Newbie...with no idea

Hello everyone!

My name is Joe. I am a children's book author and blogger. I recently published my first children's book and started a blog a week ago. I admit, I am really stumbling around Analytics and the idea of whether or not my numbers are "good" or could be better yadda yadda. This is my first week overview of my website. I have 12 subscribers so far. How is this for a first week? Any tips?

Well I must say you have a very good target rich niche. Some areas to reach/market too.

Parents/Parenting, single mothers, teachers, education, book clubs/organizations. I think you will do very well.

Keep doing what you're doing and don't stop. When it comes to blogging consistency is the key. You didn't specify what niche market you were blogging for by the way. Nonetheless, concentrate more on providing value for your members for now. You may include a few Adsense ads here and there, but your primary goal should not be to make money for now. When the number of subscribers increases to 100 you can start adopting more rigorous money- making techniques.

Use social media to market the hell out of your blog. As mentioned above, target parenting groups on FB, for example.

Coming from a mom of 3, I really enjoyed your blog entries. If I was you, I would use babycenter. Get on the birth boards for the month and year your kids were born and start messaging. Maybe your wife could do it too. I know a lot of ladies on my birth board would enjoy your blog. Keep writing. Your book looks great too, I think my son would enjoy it.

First off...thank you. I am glad you like my entries. Funny you would mention Babycenter. My wife gave birth to our daughter last July and frequented Babycenter. She still has a facebook group of about 50 of her closest friends from there. They really like the blog too. I will have to check that out though!

    Hi Joe,

Congratulations on starting a blog. you are heading towards right path. Its been just over a week now, so don't panic. The more you post content on your blog, the more visitors will arrive resulting in increase in subscribers. 12 subscribers in one week is very good sign of development of your baby blog. But, what was your traffic source?
Do they came through search engine or PPC?
