Website owner doesn't care that his website can be missused

I came across a website that leaks personal email addresses and has a form which can be used to send spam to anyone. I contacted the website owner but they don't respond.

What would you do? Ignore it?

    Hi
Run as fast as you can from that jerk.
Also check your computer for any viruses. How does it leak personal addresses?
What do you mean it has a form which can be used to send spam to anyone is it an autoresponder form or something a bit different?
What is the name of the site so people can avoid it?
Sorry about all the questions I just think that kind of site should be shut down.Plus if we know the name of the site we can spread the word to avoid it.
    Thanks for the warning

I won't give out what site it is as I am in favour of safe sites.

Basically the site lets you register with them and create a lets call it for now group. Any website visitor can contact you then via a contact form. The problem is that they simply hide your personal email address in a hidden field.

So spammers / hackers can harvest your personal email address and could even send you malicious emails in order to attempt to take control of your account. Also you can simply change the email address and in that way send an email to anyone you want. It would be a 5 minute job to write a script that sends out spam via them.

Also there wouldn't be any viruses. The site is simply very very badly programmed.

You might want to be careful with that. There are forum rules about bashing. Just because one person thinks there is a problem doesn't mean there is.

If you have a problem with the site, don't use it.

The fact that they haven't contacted you doesn't mean they don't care.

Who are you to them? Why should they trust you? What makes you
think they haven't simply forwarded your concerns to their programmers?

Move on... don't worry about it... it's not your cross to bear.

It a normal situation for many sites.
Lot's of sites are vulnerable for easiest iframe and php injection, and their admins seem not to care. One of the reasons is today's small and medium business structure -- small companies often have a non-tech person managing their web-site, cause having an in-house php coder is too expensive.

Of course you ignore it. Messages saying "there's a problem with your site" are frequently lead-ins for scammers. The site owner doesn't know you and didn't ask for your opinion.

That's why I don't sign up for emails/freebies on sites I'm not familiar with.

If you have a problem with the site you are using or it seems that they are doing something that you don't like, don't use it.
