Question about finding my work on the Internet

Okay, I signed up for this writing thing, a new one. The COOL part, is that it shows stats.

So a featured article was used, and it showed those stats --

HOWEVER, on another one I have used as a sample of my work, and not told anyone else they could use, they've tweeted it and it is being shared.

That's cool and all, but I feel... "GOT".

No recognition, no payment, just used up.

Is that what's supposed to happen?!

Should I just be happy my work is out there getting shared or...?\

Never ran into this before...

No matter what, if you put something on the Internet - it's out there...it's going to get "stolen" , shared, etc, etc, etc.

    Welcome to the Internet.

How you "feel" about it - I'd say it's more of a personal preference thing.

If your main goal is just to get your ideas out there - and that's in - then obviously you'd be happy having your information out there; whether credit is given or not.

If your goal ist to make money off your work - obviously you'd want it not given out for free and without credit. So, you might try and contact the people spreading your work and tell them that you need credit, or payment, or whatever.

Up to you how you feel and what your goals are.

Thanks, I guess I knew that, it just helps to get feedback sometimes.

I want my name out there, I just felt hurt that they wouldn't contact me first. I guess that's the net though, huh?

*Sigh* Maybe it will take me somewhere one day. I am happy people are tweeting my stuff, I just wish I had known about it first. It was a "sample" on my site. It was gonna happen anyway. I just think that's sneaky!

Thanks for the feedback Nate! I bet VA is awesome right now, JEALOUS! We just left a year ago!
