When I was 16, a "mobile phone accessory/repair shop" hired me to build a website and SEO it for them. At that time I had no idea what SEO was I did build them a website though, and refunded half the money.

My first money came from selling a
    resale rights ebook on Clickbank.

My first real marketing money came
from an affiliate sale through Adwords,
    and I'll never forget it.

I made a sale from the very first Adwords
click I got... probably the very worst
thing that could have happened lol, because
I spent hundreds chasing that sale afterward.

Via a 'green'(referral) on a freebie site(Freebiejeebies) where people complete offers and refer others in order to get gadgets and consoles. Each green is worth £17, so that was my first earning.

10 years ago! in 1999, what're the diferences you're seen between 1999-2009 in the programs such as PTR. were there scams also like today?

  • I earned my first money selling links to wholesalers and dropshippers on ebay.

Years later I made some real money writing articles for people.

Now I am into affiliate sales.

I am very impressed at the variety of ways people responding to this thread made their 1st dollar. It is very interesting.

  • My first sale came from promoting a product (Top Secret Weight Loss Secret) on Clickbank.

I wrote two keyword-laden articles about weight loss and submitted them to EZineArticles. My resource box pointed to a webpage that automatically redirected visitors to the Top Secret Far Loss Secret sales page.

    I forgot about it.

Months later, I logged into Clickbank while I was at work and found out someone had purchased via my link, and that I had $30 waiting in my Clickbank account.

I immediately stood up, went to the ladies room, locked myself in a bathroom stall...

.... and danced for about fifteen minutes.

I made my first money on ebay selling physical products then I moved on to digital products. I really knew nothing about selling digital products on ebay and I was making some good money. I could only imagine the guys that knew what they were doing must have been cleaning up. I then moved on to affiliate sales, next step is my own product.

I first made money when some politician hired me to design their campaign websites. But they were so hard to work with that i decided that web design was something I would use only for my own products. After that I earned money promoting clickbank products

I earned a whole $20 in my first 6 months online - an affiliate commission from MarketingTips.com. And to think, I'd only paid $300 for the hosting of my site all those years ago ;-)

    All the best,

I started making money online around 1998, when I was 13. I'm not 100% sure which came first.. Commission Junction and the $100+ check for referring $1/lead requests for free samples from "Web-Cards", or the check from Microsoft for the CPC ad program they ran at the time.

I never cashed the check from Microsoft because I thought it was soooo cool to be 13 and have a check from the most famous computer company of the time.

My first money was a whole 79 cents of amazon commission.

And yes, I danced around the room.

Of course it didn't get close to paying for hosting, domain reg, etc...

Your first sale is always amazing, no matter how little, because it shows that you can succeed.
