How should I move a subscriber over to a new list?

Question...

I have a multi-part email series that people can sign up for. In those emails, I do not really promote my product...I've strictly giving them content. This goes for about 7 parts or emails. Now on the EIGHTH email...I do a strong plug for my product.

The problem is, I do have my link to my product in all the emails, so I want to avoid a person buying, say after email #2, and then having them get email #8. That would come across as annoying I think to be promoted about a product I have already purchased.

What is the best way to move the opt-in from one list to another...seamlessly?

Basically I will want emails 1-7 on one list (the email series.

Then emails 8+ will be a combination of promotion and information. I will use Awebers automation rule to remove them from THIS list if they do purchase and move them to a customer list. But I don't want to do that on the the initial 7 part list because I want them to get all 7 parts.

Whew! I hope that makes sense.

Ideas?

    Hi,

What I've seen alot is that once you buy a product you are invited to join a new list with the incentive that you will receive more valuable stuff that subscribers to the standard list will not.

In other words, you make people feel like they are joining a VIP list which is actually a way of moving people from a leads list to a buyers list.

Hope I've understood you right here. )

I know what you mean Valley...but that doesn't solve the problem I'm having. That works fine for the emails only AFTER email #8. I appreciate your post though.

    Anyone else have ideas?

The only option I may have is in email #7 is to tell them if they want continued updates, they will have to RE-Sign up again for another list. Which then would put them on my my list for promotions. But I really wish I could move them to that list without having them to resign up.

    Hi Dayne

this is how I would set it up

Once a subscriber gets to email #8 they are given the option to buy your product, if they buy they are taken to another page, for example a sales page where they enter their email details, and this would subscribe them to the new list

meanwhile your email series can keep on giving content from email #9 for those who dont wish to buy, and if they do wish to buy then they will always have email #8, to get your link from, that is if they have not deleted it

    i hope this helps

this is my two pennies worth

Let me give you an example. A guy made a purchase today after email #2 in the 7 part email series. Currently, I have my autoresponder setup with 12 emails total...the first 7 are from the series, the others are more promotional after that.

Now, on my "thank you" page, he signed up to a "customer" email list.

Now, I really don't want him to get anymore emails past #7 because it will be annoying to get promo emails for the product he just bought. But I DO want him to at least get up until email #7 because it is a 7 part email course.

I think I'm just going to have to tell them at the end of email #7 if they want to continue to get emails from me with information, they will have to optin to a new list which will be my "promotion" emails. Once they buy on THAT list, I can have them removed or moved to a customer list.

    Ugh...I'm getting a headache
