I finally got below the dreaded 100,000 level on Alexa

I have a question (and this isn't pooping on your news) but does anybody pay any attention to Alexa rankings? I mean, from what I've seen they're completely inaccurate and we started ignoring them a long time ago. Nobody I know in the business has any respect for Alexa rankings.

I like compete.com rankings, from what I've seen across our sites they under estimate all of our traffic by around 30%. Of course it should always be taken for what it is, an arbitrary metric postulated from incomplete data

But still having a bunch of sites between ranks 30,000-60,000 is pretty satisfying when I'm looking to stroke my ehonor ego.

Yeah, Alexa ratings are debatable. I'll have to use compete for comparision.

I dont know what all the fuss is about Alexa, its not exactly accurate.

I'm not sure that Compete or Alexa are all that accurate, but it's always good to have measurements. Marketers love measurements.

Alexa may not be accurate, but it is a nice game to play.

It helps add interest to what we are doing.

I would much sooner have some Alexa rankings below 100,000 than below 10,000,000.

My best site is currently at approximately 330,000 in alexa and it gets about 2,000 uniques per day.

Would like to get this up to 5,000 per day and theoretically get inside the top 100,000 as well, even if they aren't that accurate.
