Input of gurus how to monetize this famous site

We are relaunching Florida.com in a few months. Total rebuild. Right now it is run by an adserver company whom I let takeover site temporarily until we relaunch.

We get around 20k of uniques per month, but this adserver company is only pulling down 1k of cash.

I need to bump this up, even if I use a simple landing page with high paying click thrus to take advantage of the traffic.

Any ideas?

    Nice domain name

    I guess selling advertisment space would be a good idea, many local business will be interested in this. Perhaps list on buysellads, but i guess you'll need more traffic for that.

    You can definately make more with a domain name like this if you can increase the traffic.

      no problem getting more traffic once we relaunch-- this traffic now is all type in....

      your ad idea now is not worth the effort for a few months

        How about hotelscombined affiliate program?

        It's a cpa offer that pays for a simple hotel search, might be worth adding that to the site.

    $1000 views for 20k views isn't bad. You just need to increase your traffic. The best way to do that is to be useful.

    A landing page that exists solely to get people to click through paid links isn't going to do very well in the long run. Seems like a waste of the domain, imo.

      I said we are relaunching.... total rebuild. So there is not long run etc.

    I'm guessing people who visit are the ones looking for things to do there. How about some travel-related affiliates? (of course, preferably ones closely related to that region.) And as Jens stated, selling ad space doesn't sound like a bad idea either....

    As a native Floridian, I'm a little jealous that I missed out on this domain, lol.

    Nevertheless, I would advise making it a little more interesting and lively. I wouldn't want to visit Florida any more than I already did (nor would I be excited to stay on your site to look around very long) after going to your site. My suggestion would be to have pictures of actual people enjoying themselves and many links to the special events that take place in the state year-round. Links to videos would help too.

    Good luck...I hope you make the most of this premium domain!
