PDF password security and other features.

Adobe sent me this today. I already own Acrobat 9 on my iMac, and for anyone planning on producing eBooks, this product is, like crazy. Also includes a free trial download.

Yes it is crazy.. it's $300 and it doesn't even create audio or video PDFs from your Word documents - you have to 'edit' your PDFs afterwards to do that. It also ignores custom page sizes so forget it if you want to create business card size PDFs.

Regarding custom page sizes - I have no problem with it. It creates the sizes with the margins that I set i.e. in Word.

Custom = set your own width and height, not select from presets drop-down. It doesn't work for Acrobat v8 Pro on my machine

Remember the Armand Morin PDF - 'An inconvenient Truth'. That was an excellent PDF with a custom size that looked like a Powerpoint presentation when flipping from one page to another. I've tried creating these custom page dimensions using Acrobat Pro but it came out in Letter or A4 size.

Since I am scanning books and publish in the original size of the books I never use presets - always custom settings.

Woops, I guess I stepped on your product by accident. I haven't tried yours, but it looks interesting.

So far I have found the combination of using Pages'09 and Acrobat9 is the best system I have come up with for creating professional, magazine style ebook layouts with excellent linking strategies and password security.

*edit: post removed, Acrobat Pro custom page size problem is only a problem on my XP machine so it must be an issue with the installation on my XP machine. Will reinstall. Thanks for pointing this out
