The term "authority site" gets thrown around a lot, with most people not really understanding what the term means.

What is your definition of an "authority site"?

You'll need a lot of quality content to be considered as an authority in your niche.

So that would be the first thing.

Once you get vsitors and people start to share your content and interact with it, then your site can be considered an authority site.

You don't just 'start' and authority site.

    It doesn't happen.

You start with a small site and continue adding the best content possibly until you build the site to be the most authoritative site in it's niche.

    No shortcuts.

It takes time for all that to happen.

First, you will want to define what your site is about and make it as targeted as possible. For instance, rather than making a catch all site, refine your site's content down to one niche, such as pet care. And, then go one step further by refining it down more, such as to natural pet remedies or pet diseases/cures. And, then start writing or compiling content for your site. All content should be very lengthy, such as 1000 words and up per page. You can't really call yourself an authority site, if you are only publishing short 200 word articles on every page. These are just a few things you could do to get on the road to becoming an authority site.

You can have one by taking the first step to have a site up and running. It doesn't matter if you start with a small site. Consistently work and grow it by continuing to add on more high quality contents that are useful and engaging to your readers.

This may help you. I got this definition of the word Authority from Google.

"The power to influence others, especially because of one's commanding manner or one's recognized knowledge about something.

"he has the natural authority of one who is used to being obeyed"

So the moral of that story is to pick something your passionate about and that you have knowledge in so that way you can put enough content on your site to be called an authority.

How to start an Authority Site. What is an Authority site and what creates authority?

Trust and Traffic. Authority is created from Trust that people see in your site/content.

How do you create quality? Quality content is the most relevant to a person's search.

Authority will also come through your logo, and your brand, and how you brand your website. A brand is an imprint in your customer's mind. It tells then and Google that you and your site are the most relevant.

1.) Building your site with the right keywords is important. Keywords are the terms your customers are searching on.

2.) Branding your site on all the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc

3.) Now the fun part. Automation! Once you have these sites branded and set up, automate your content publishing so that you can post once and then have that content automatically post on your branded sites.

4.) Then go out an socialize it. Get feedback from people and have them help your site go viral by sharing and liking and talking about it.

    1. Start a site.
    2. Build it up.
    3. ???
    4. AUTHORITY!

And I'm not even joking. You don't create an authority site by brute force, you need to build it over time. Even then there is no guarantee it will become an authority site.

This would be my plan. Will it work? Who knows lol.

    1. I would form a huge content strategy first. I would outline 100+ posts with keywords and the topics needed. I would also have a posting schedule.
    2. I would start becoming a known figure by using social media, connecting with my audience and talking to other blog owners. You want to do a lot of personal branding.
    3. Guest post and reach out to other blog owners. Network your butt off to try getting natural links and some clout in the niche.
    4. Tweak your content strategy based off of your current statistics and popular posts.

I would tweak this strategy a little. I think it is good but one thing I would add. when you start posting, what you post next should be driven by feedback. Keep modifying your posts to include this feedback and also ask questions. Make sure you get keyword question phrases in your niche and start there. Engagement is key today.

I like to use Blogger.com to post once and I have that post circulate and post automatically to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc so that each post backlinks to my main site. On my main site, I don't have a blog with free content. My main site is the money site where I drive that traffic to and provide a call to action. So your main site could just be one sales page that you drive traffic to from all you branded sites.

One of the problems I used to have is that I would over analyze and over plan. When in reality, all you need is that branded social media infrastructure announcement network and one sales page.

You can repeat this type of structure in any niche. You will know if it is working by your first post. Start with smaller goals. The first time you post anywhere, are you getting engagement. Are people interacting? Are you getting likes, subscribers. Then, are you engaging your subscribers? Create a feedback loop. Rather then just create a lot of posts and then blitz it out, the devil is in the detail. And the detail is are you engaging one person? IF you engage one person, then you can engage two.

Then how can you better engage these people. Each social media site has a learning curve. On Facebook, you can use coupons and contests to engage, etc...

Starts with great research of the niche, and knowing it inside and out. Than...

    1. Post a dozen highly informative articles on fundamental topics. Longer articles that speak with authority, with headers, bullets, pictures to look like the part of a high quality site.

    2. Begin reaching out to others in the niche. Attempt to get their attention by stroking their ego in some fashion. Examples: Get quotes about a hot topic from 20 bloggers, Run a survey, feature the top X bloggers in the niche, etc. Get others in the niche to link to this kind of crap.

    3. Milk the niche's natural resources for free content. Could be videos, guest posts, memes, infographics, epic resource lists. This is stuff that you don't have to think long and hard about to produce, but is still seen as super high quality.

    4. Start high quality backlinking.

    5. Start monetizing, but don't monetize in shady ways.

Most authority sites have started out as micro niche sites. They then began to expand and received more content and traffic. This in turns get the website exposed and then they'll be seen as an authority figure. The best way is to start out on a niche and offer as much help on there as possible. Then you can increase the amount of content you send out and then the traffic will come flowing in as your rankings on Google increases.

First, think of a niche. Select your domain name carefully. Then develop a good website. Now start writing good content. Good content means one that is liked by people and they come on your website often. Do some link building. Increase your traffic. After all this you may get on way to make your website an authority in your chosen niche. It may take some time, money and efforts before you achieve this!

    Ah! and don't stop writing!

What is your niche authority site going to be about? I'm assuming it will be a micro niche. So let's say, your authority site is about herbal remedies and cures. You would start with a descriptive domain name that instantly tells the visitor they are on the right site and everything you post on your pages should be as thoroughly detailed as possible. Don't just cover basics on an authority site, take your time. Hire experts to write articles if needed.
