Multi-channel Marketing - but how many channels ?

Hi guys,

The last 6 months Ive come across several people telling me that a brand should be present in at least (the number varies) 3-5 different channels to reach or make an impact or the like.
I have failed to find any research about it and Im writing my master thesis, where I actually need it. So if any of you guys can link to a research paper or similar, it would be much appreciated!

Best regards,

Maria

I agree that a brand should be present in many channels. However the number of channels depends on the niche or business and also the target market. Which platforms do the target users use? For example, for internet marketing, you can use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Ads or Facebook ads. You can always try to test and observe. Even huge product brands are on Facebook now and social media channels plays a part in helping them stay on top.

Gina Gaudio-Graves teaches in the Bachelors class at DirectionsUniversity.com that you should have at least 5 to 7 of what you call channels in what she calls a vortex. All channels should involve some kind if integration marketing.

Fewer than 5 will cause the vortex to work slowly and more than 7 would cause the vortex to go out of control and be impossible to manage.

    You should check out...

I don't know if you will find the information you need outside of that class or not.

I hope this has been helpful,

Don't just consider social media sites as a channel. There are many other types of channels you need to take into consideration for use when marketing your products including, banner or text advertising (either sponsored spots or ad network); television or radio ads; email marketing (either list building or solo ads); viral marketing (such as branded memes/infographics/ebooks). These are just a few channels you could explore and they don't all depend on the whims of Facebook or Twitter traffic.

Don't over complicate this. Figure out where your targeted audience is hanging up and built your brand there. It can be on blogs or on forums as well as on facebook or if you an photographer on pinterest or instagram. Do a research and after that you can decide where it's worth it to be on.

Probably solution here would be hiring infomercial production company such as TVA Media Group. They will handle all work and present your product to targeted audience.
