Sellers refusing to make refund

Hi everyone-

What do you do when you don't want a product and request a refund within the refund period but the seller doesn't refund?

Thanks - thats what has happened with one of the warrior members and I'm not quite sure how to approach it. I have emailed them twice at the address they gave on the product to paypal but no response.

You can always file a PayPal dispute to get their attention. But if you purchased during a product launch and it had a big turnout, you might give it some more time before doing that. Some sellers during a launch get swamped with support tickets and aren't quite prepared for it. The burden of keeping their refund guarantees are on them, however, and you can proceed as you feel that you should.

A paypal dispute is the answer to your question. However, you need to make sure that you've done everything on your end to contact the seller, telling your reason for refund. The first one who replied in your post has a point. If the product was just recently launched, give the seller the courtesy of time.

Also, make sure that you read the refund policy completely.

Good Luck and I hope that you'll be able to settle this issue of yours soon.

I don't buy it, of course.

You should take it up with forum staff.

As above, if they are ignoring (Or not receiving) your emails then file a PayPal dispute.

    Pretty simple process.

It maybe that their paypal address is not monitored. Before filing a dispute, it would be nice to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Just post on their thead saying you have had trouble contacting them at their Paypal address. Ask them to PM you with their contact details. You don't need to go into details on the thread, as that is not really the place to ask for a refund. If that doesn't yield results, then you can always escalate things.

It's sad when this happens, I always offer refunds for my products and the only time I find it annoying is when people are obviously "trying it on" If someone offers you a guarantee then they are obligated to fulfill it. When I see this kind of thing I think that the seller is obviously not doing well online and is desperately trying to hold onto the money. Maybe they have a bad coke habit? I've seen some high profile marketers do this too and it sucks and by not refunding they are not doing themselves any favors. Raise a Paypal dispute and if that fails get onto your bank and get them to recover the money, the bank usually wins and the slimeball who is ripping you off will also get a chargeback for his crappy service.

Have you tried contacting the seller via PM on the forum?

Thanks guys for all your suggestions - I will pm them to see if I can get a response. The payment came from my paypal account so I can't get the bank involved. It just does not speak well of them. The only contact I was able to find was the paypal contact for them.

Once the word starts getting out as to which seller refused your refund request, they will likely find it hard to make more sales from established or regular buyers. This type of thing rarely goes without consequences. And, while the seller may get to keep your money, by cheating you out of some money, he's just forfeiting himself of the other sales he would have gotten by being an ethical seller.

If it's something you bought here (e.g. through a WSO thread) it's perfectly acceptable to post in the thread asking for a refund, and even to post highlighting the fact that you've asked for one and not received it, as long as you do so calmly and factually. That applies only if the vendor has offered refunds in his sales post, of course: there's no obligation on WSO (or on any other) vendors to offer refunds.

If refunds are offered but don't materialize, for something bought here, you should bring this to the moderators' attention, too. (You can always do this by "reporting" the sales post and commenting on what's happened, in the "report-box".)

You can escalate the issue by reporting to PayPal.

If the product has buyers protection you are likely to be listened to.

I doubt if you will receive a refund from PayPal. A few months ago I filed a dispute with PayPal over a charge I had proof I had specifically directed the NOT to implement (an OTO they were pushing heavily over and above my original purchase).

Despite receiving an email from me in which I said I was not interested, I was charged.

I opened a dispute, and forwarded a copy of my email to PayPal. After a number of days PayPal informed me that because it was DIGITAL PRODUCT a refund was not possible and they finished by telling me the case was closed.

I've always managed to get my money back with these 3 possibilities:

      1. The buyers protection through paypal. Give them the reason that the program you bought wasn't what you expected and that the founder promised to give a money back guarantee and they will usually refund you without further questions.

      2. I wrote several emails to the support of the program.

      3. If you purchased the program through a site like JVZoo or Clickbank you leave them a message to help you to refund the product and you can stop the recurring payment (if you accepted one). You can also stop the recurrent on paypal.

If you need more help send me a pm!

Digital products never have buyer protection. PayPal will just close the dispute if they know it is a digital product. They do expect the seller to abide by their refund policy (whatever it is) though.Best to pm or post in the thread.

Usually you don't hit the buy button. When you do hit the buy button, you and the buyer enter a contract.

If the sellers product breaks this, then in most cases yes you are due a refund, but on the other hand you have rapid refunders who just basically steal the product ie plugin software, ebooks, etc.

Also buyers need to be sure they follow instructions/guidelines. Not following those is no excuse for a refund.

You need to report it via the Help Desk or use the report button in the WSO thread and then file a dispute with Paypal. Sellers here are required to have contact info available and if you are contacting them and they are not responding, that is also a WSO violation in addition to not refunding within a stated refund period.

Are they selling something here via one of the paid advertising mediums? (WSO, Classified Ad, Banner, etc.).
