How can I test webhost speed from another country

Hi I am living in the UK but want to create websites that are aimed at a mostly US audience.

I need a new webhost away from my current EIG headache.
I am looking at a reseller account with one of 2 hosts one who uses servers in a Dallas Data Center with SATA based disk storage and the other in Amsterdam in the Netherlands which uses SSD drives.
The websites will be mostly wordpress based so a DB hosted on SSD would be a better performer however I guess the extra distance could increase latency.

The 2 hosts I wish to evaluate are Veerotech and EuroVPS.

How can I perform a test as if from the US to evaluate a potential website performance.

Just did a quick search for site speed test and found this one that allows you to choose where you test from.

Thanks NatesMarketing. Did some pings to a number of hosts around the globe. including those using dc in Utah,NYC & Dallas got some interesting results. I will check again tomorrow to compare.

      Thanks Trevford92
Did a search couldn't find a search tool myself . Must be getting tired.
Used your suggested site and got some very very interesting results not at all as expected.
Tested links from several states, europe, Oz and asia. The worst performer in all cases was Los Angeles so guess they have some routing problems there at the moment. Will try again tommorrow see if the results are consistant before making a call.

      many thanks once again

Maybe try to find a website (or the server IP) that is hosted on either of the two host you want to test and then run it through one of the website checker sites such as Pingdom or WebPageTest (where you can set your location for testing)

It wouldn't be a perfect fit since you would be trying different websites (unless you can have a standard site on each host to try it out) though it may still provide you a brief idea of the server speed?
