Any lightbox pop-up scripts for WP?

I need a simple free lightbox script/popover for WP 2.7. Just a grey screen,
that I can paste some text into (or frame in an html page).

A message to everyone visiting, that they can close after reading.

No optin form, nothing.

Anyone know of something?

WordPress Popup Scheduler Plugin - Make Tech Easier

It has a lightbox effect, amongst other things...
    Signature

    Not promoting right now

I'd check out Robert Planks Blog. He writes a lot of these type of scripts, including WP plugins, and they are good ones. You can type his name in Google and go right to it I believe.

    Hope this helps ...

This might be what you want:
    WP lightbox JS WordPress plugin

It is for displaying images, but you could create your text message as an image and just use this script to display the image/message.

I found this when looking for something to allow HTML control over lightbox optin forms.

      Hey Chris,

      Nice reference and is appreciated!

I do the same with some things - mean use text images in this manner to display text. It works perfectly.

I haven't used any of the other suggestions, but I really like MaxBlogPress Unblockable Popup

mmurtha - I'm just starting to do this now (using elance, I am not a photoshop guy), but I think the benefit of using an image instead of HTML text is that you can make it look WAY more professional, eye catching, etc.

Yes, you are right, but there are also drawbacks to using images of text. SEO is missing and has to be done thru the image tags, so there is some sacrific. I would say it depends on the user's purpose as to whether or not this way is for them.
