Selling a product online

I have a business associate who sells a product (one product type, 25 variations) online. The market for this product is world wide. The product is very unique and the target audience is primarily women aged between 13 and 50. He is the biggest seller worldwide for this product, which he currently sells on EBay.

He also has a web site for an offline local business which has a page devoted to this product but no sales option.

The ideas I have put forward so far are:

  • dedicated product site with sales page
  • online hosted shop
  • Facebook page (already under way but going slowly with Fb ads running for likes)
There is a big potential market eg the FB ad campaign had a broad audience of 17m which I reduced to 1.2m by only targeting the main English speaking counties and women aged between 13-40.

The question is how best to promote and sell this product online?

Any suggestions most welcome thanks!

How much traffic is he getting already to that page?

If it is good, I'd just tack a link to a subdomain and set up shop there.

Is it at least linking back to his ebay auctions?

He is not getting much traffic to that page as the site only represents a small local business and there is no link to the EBay shop.
