SwineFluLevelSix.com -- What Should I Do With It?

Hey Warriors,

I just registered SwineFluLevelSix(dot)com yesterday due to the WHO (World Health Organization) lifting the pandemic to a LEVEL SIX recently.

I am wondering what I should do with it?

SO MANY "swine flu" related domain names are taken and I thought this one was pretty good for not having any dashes/hyphens and being a .COM tld.

I would appreciate any opinions and/or suggestions as to what I should do with this site and whether or not you think it's a good domain name.

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Shane

OK, you need traffic in order to sell product so start adding content and building links. I optimize my SEO for Google and pretty much forget about the other two search engines. At one time over 80% of my traffic came from Yahoo, now only 5%.

The key is to have traffic and them find out what products your audience wants and sell it to them!

    Source of my traffic
    Google 53%
    links 30%
    PPC 11%
    Yahoo 5%
    Bing 1%

      Thanks for the response seobro.

I am already quite savvy with SEO and I know what I am doing when it comes to marketing on the internet...

My question is more about what EXACTLY I should do with this site:

      - What products should/could I sell?
      - Should I try to just sell the domain name?
      - Should I focus on AdSense or affiliate products in THIS niche
      - Etc.

I'd consider selling the domain now, while it's hot. The swine flu scare isn't likely to be a long-term thing (they just need to unload all that Tamiflu stock they couldn't unload during the bird flu scare).

But be quick, in case they announce it's "level 7" tomorrow.
Lucky for him, because it only goes to level six (6) -- the highest level!

So, nope, no level 7 is in the cards!

With that said, capitalize on it in which ever way you can and as quickly as you can because by the Fall, there will be a "cure" vaccine to combat this flue pandemic.

          Wishing you much success!

Sell it now - It will go down soon - you have the media to thank for your profits (and us, of course), because without them noone would give a monkey's. It still takes less victims than regular flu...

Reminds me of gaming domain I registered - and am still sitting on because I have no interest in the topic. Just saw it - knew it was good and took it. Duh! That's the last domain I registered without knowing what I was going to do with it.

Personally, I'd take a little risk with the one you got. You're coming into that niche a bit late. Get a blog going - plenty of info online to adapt from govt sources. Good chance this pandemic will be big news again in early winter as often an off season virus has a second wave during flu season.

Of course, that depends on finding ways to monetize a site on this - you'll have to judge that potential. Then I'd sell it the minute it hits the news big time again in the fall...assuming that does happen.

I don't think its a good idea to sell Tamiflu. Sure, you can make money from it, but you're not a pharmacist and you're putting people at risk and this is really unethical. You cannot take Tamiflu if you are not sick at all, Tamiflu is only a Neuraminidase inhibitor and will prevent the virus from spreading to other cells of your body while you are sick. But most people will take Tamiflu as an Asprin and pop one a day.

Swine Flu is still around, in the last few days over 50 cases have been confirmed in HK. Also, the biggest problem is flu (whichever type) is normal in winter, so this one caught people by surprise because of the time of year it happened. Australasia are starting their winter so it will be interesting to watch what happens there.

The other problem with swine flu is the ages of people who are being affected. Seems from all the research those who were born before 1957 have some sort of protection against it.

I love having a husband who digs deep into a subject because he loves researching.

i would simply do everything that i could right now to fill the site and monetise it. mostly adsense. i agree with WinsonYeung that short term is the only 100% definate that you do have.
then i would use the google trends thing to add 20 or more articles and blog posts all the time to maximise the traffic.
in the gaps i would then chase the real maney. as you know having the site up and showing massive traffic is vital to selling the site.
i would find out which big pharmaceutical players are in this game and play them off against each other. i would offer them advertising space on the site, that sort of thing.
hell even the mexican government might be interested in buying a site from a marketer that has correctly done a site that is pulling in the most swine traffic.
    stock up with coffee.
you might be awake for the next 3 weeks.
naa, thinking about that last comment - sub all the daily chasing trends/articles work out. free yourself up to chase the big advertising, and buyers.

    good luck.

What if this swine flu or ah1n1 thing just suddenly subside just like of that SARS scare years ago?

If you will sell product regarding ah1n1, you will no longer have any sales that's for sure.

An informative site is much better, with text link ads.

Well there's 2 ways to look at this one!

Yes there is global panic now and other marketers are bound to want to "jump on the bandwagon", so you may be best served selling it to the highest bidder.

      OR

A look at history and the previous 3 flu pandemics (Spanish, Asian and Hong Kong) will tell you that they started off with a small wave of infections. However the major impact of these previous pandemics came in the fall and winter. The same time as when seasonal influenza strikes!

So there is bound to be an even bigger panic when the weather gets colder and our immune systems are less able to cope with virus's and infections in a few months time!

So perhaps a savvy marketer may look to read up as much info as possible. Provide as much decent and helpful info as you can. Promote affiliate products and adsense and then flip the site at the beginning of the fall!

      Cheers

Thank you so much for all of your responses!

I'm still trying to figure out whether or not to make it go VIRAL or BACTERIAL!

I added the domain to my SEDO account and I will work on setting a minimum price, etc. if anyone has any suggestions as far as price or how to go about selling the domain name -- I would appreciate it.

Thanks again for all the responses so far.

    Best,
    Shane
