Charity Marketing - What to expect?
So I was thinking about the following:
- adjusting my sales threads saying that 5% of revenue will be donated to people in Cambodia
- visiting Cambodia once a month, rent a motorbike and visit a poor neighbourhood and just give out random cash donations to people that I think need it most, I was thinking about $250 per family or something and take a photo of them holding the cash and publish it on my website as proof
Two reasons really:
1) To increase revenue / grow business faster
2) I like to help as it's pretty disturbing to see kids messing in piles of garbage
I already do some donations here and there but it would be good to do more. Thailand doesn't really need it, minimum wage is about 200 euro here and that's enough to live off, however in Cambodia the average salary is around 50 euro and impossible to live on that.
I was thinking about one time donations of $250 per family, which would allow them to buy a fridge and/or a new mattress, a fan, mosquite nets, clothes, that kind of basic things really which seems to be missing in most houses, if you can even call it a house.
You could say invest in education but that often doesn't work as the kids have to help to bring food on the table so they simply don't have time to go to school so I would really leave it up to the parents how to spend it.
So my question, do you think it would lead to an increase in sales of at least 5%, is there any data available? If it would result in 10% more clients or 20% I would increase the donations as well. I would automatically apply it to all existing revenue/clients as well so I think 5% would be a good starting point.
If you have better ideas to spend the money then suggestions are welcome obvious.
The idea of cash donations comes from Pattaya Street Kids, who take the people on a shopping tour and mostly they end up with the things I listed: clothes/bedding/fans/fridge/food etc.
If you like to make a donation to Pattaya street kids right away you can do it here:

You can also sponsor a kid there for less then $100 year I think, then they can go to school, if you sponsor a kid you can also give them an extra donation on their birthday and one of the free workers will take them shopping to Tesco Lotus and have an ice cream there or something, you can even meet them in Thailand if you wish. One time donations of any amount are also welcome obvious.
I don't know the owners of the charity but they visit Thailand once or twice a year and pay for their own plane tickets and accommodation and such so your money will be well spend. I do know one of the largest sponsors personally who runs a very successful business in Thailand and he wouldn't do it if he didn't have fate in it. Probably one of the very few charities that do use 100% of the donations to help people directly.
I lie on marketing forums. Social media is for fun, pics & hook ups.
