Question About E-book Sales

I'm writing an e-book on freelance writing and I'm thinking of selling it as a WSO. I'm putting a lot of time and effort into the project. How many copies do I have to sell before I can say that the product has sold well? Is 100 a good number for WSOs?

It's been a good while since I ran a WSO, but my best tip would be to focus on your sales funnel, rather than purely on sales. The WSO is a wonderful place for people to get to know you, and think about what you have to offer.

Do you have another product or two to market to the people who buy your WSO and love it?

You're creating an ebook on freelance writing. What if you created a more advanced version, with some coaching, or even a membership website as an upsell?

Whatever you decide to do, focus on creating a brilliant ebook, and encourage sigh-ups to your mailing list.

    Have a wonderful WSO. :-)

    Hello.

Before even launching it you should consider a market research. Is there people having troubles with Freelance Writing(define what types of troubles)? If so, how many of them are there (approximately)? Then, you should answer: Is your ebook showing how to solve any of this troubles?

By researching upon your audience will give you a clearer idea on how many sales you can expect to make by launching your ebook for sale.

How would anyone know if they could write? Yes, I know that makes no sense at all. I can write. I can hit the keys and make words appear. What I mean is, what makes those words special, what gives them the ability to grab the attention of other people and become a book, an article. What makes everyday words riveting?

I keep reading that anyone can write an article or an ebook. But surely that takes skill or training?
I read, I always have a book or three on the go (and most of them have a character that is killing someone) but I have never considered that I have the ability to write. Maybe I need to buy your WSO.

Hi, Kate! You're right. It takes skill to write a good book. My e-book isn't about writing per se though. It's more about commanding high fees and increasing one's perceived value as a freelancer by specializing in a topic or in a type of writing, marketing one's expertise, etc. although I'm including a chapter where I give tips and a list of resources that a writer can use to improve his/her skills. That said, you're welcome to read my e-book.

If you have a great product which will help a lot of people solving their problems, then selling 100 copies shouldn't be too dificult and then you could already call it a succesful Wso.

If it's an evergreen product you cna simply keep bumping it and keep making sales for a long time. Don't forget to build your list too while selling you product, that can even be more profitable than the Wso sales

    Good luck!

You could give free preview version of the ebook. If readers are interested they can opt to buy the full version. This gives people a glimpse on what is being offered and is a great marketing gimmick.

I would just put it up and see how it does. You might want to recruit some affiliates and do some pre-selling before you launch it. If the price is right and the product is perceived as being of high value, then I don't see why you couldn't do at least 50-100 sales without heavy affiliate recruitment or a big list.
