How to increase image resolution?

Greetings!

How can I increase my product label graphic image resolution?

I have issue with the label image I created from the printer. They need resolution of the image to be 300dpi, and my image only 72dpi. Could this be possible without increasing the image dimension? The product label image dimension is 20cm by 25cm.

Any assistance that anyone here in this good forum can provide with regard to the above questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for at least reading my thread.

More power!

I turn mine into a vector first, before I up size. Otherwise, the picture looks gross. Always try to get a picture that seems larger than necessary. That way, it be easy to change its size.

That way, does it has a higher resolution?

      Let me check that.

We can easily extend image resolution by different easy software. like picasa and much more.

Yes, the image should be in vector format. The resolution on our monitors are usually lower than the ones needed for printing. So even if it really looks good on the monitor, it looks blurry/choppy when trying to print. Resizing won't work

So change it into vectors, or you can hire someone to do that. That will maintain the integrity of your graphic...And make sure you keep copies of the source file(s) with you. I've met a lot of people who just let their designers keep the source files for their graphics and then have a hard time retrieving them if they lose their relationship with the designers.

        Best of luck!

You CANNOT turn a low resolution image into a high resolution image. If you try, the resulting image will tend to be blurry. (Note: You CAN make a large image smaller, but you cannot do the opposite.)

    So you have two choices:

    1) Go back to the original source file. If it's a VECTOR image (such as .EPS or .AI), you can scale it up almost infinitely without a loss of quality.

    2) If all you have is a lower resolution raster (pixel-based) image, have a graphic artist trace it as a vector image OR re-create the image as a raster image at the required size or larger.

    Print resolution math is easy...

For example, if you want to print a raster (pixel-based) image at a size of 20 cm (7.874 inches) by 25 cm (9.842 inches) at 300 dpi, the image size will need to be 2,362 pixels by 2,953 pixels.

You need to go back to the original vector file or recreate the needed dimensions. Any kind of image blowup via software will make the image quality worse.

From the very start, it should already be set to 300 dpi. It should be in CMYK.

Based on experience, when you print it, the file should be in pdf or tiff.

If you want to increase one image resolution, from low resolution. the image will blurry. But you can crease low resolution from high resolution easily. In this case if you have the vector file, you do the both easily.

I am convinced that I need to learn more about vector.

      Thanks.
