How Much Outsourcing?

Another ranty post about something where I probbly answer my own question in hope of getting some insight from people who know more about this than me.

I have set up a blog about three weeks ago and having posted 4 articles so far.

I haven't totally set up the website yet though, there are some changes I want to make, like adding a introduction video, an email capture and most importantly adding some adverts to the site so that I can hopefilly start making some money from it.

traffic is also a problem.

I have had less then 150 visitors so far, and I am not even sure if its counting my visits.

I have a twitter, facebook page and a google+ page where I post links to the blogs and try to engage with the people who follow them.

I use hootsuite to share anything I post.

Now, going back to things I need to do.

A video, An Email capture and Adsense.

The Video can be done fairly easily. I have a camera, so its just a matter of filming it, editing and uploading. even though I wouldn't know how to edit or upload it.

Then there is the Email capture. What the hell would I use that for? People would obviously get links to my website each week into their inbox, but beyond that, I wouldn't know how to use it properly.

Then, I have never set up an adsense campaign before.

How much of this should I know myself and how much should I be willing to outsource?

I suppose, it depends on budget.

If you have the money to pay others to do certain things you feel you shouldn't be doing then great, but otherwise, learn to do it, which has the down side of having to spend hours and hours of time learning how to do these things and then implimenting it.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

There really are a number of considerations that make this difficult to answer. A few points I will make:
    1. Definitely study what is possible. Learn how to search for the tools you need. Often there are tutorials, widgets, or code posted to help you along the way.
    2. If you find the right person to help you, their work can actually be very profitable for you if you can monetize what they did.
    3. Just like building a site, outsourcing is something that requires learning too. If you get lucky you will find some good people that care.

Yeah, what I am thinking, is learn some basics and use outsourcers for things I am not sure off.

Even though I can do very basic html and css, I don't have a clue how to upload the code to a website and I am a bit nervous about doing it with out messing up the website.

I have found some tutorials on adsense, adwords and some other stuff. which I will be consuming over the next couple of weeks and putting into action as I do it.

I eventually only want to be writing the content and creating products and launching them and have a team that deal with the rest.

For this particular project, I'd suggest you to do everything by yourself and not outsource anything. You are still in the process of testing stuff and its going to be a learning experience for you (which will help you understand ROIs for similar projects later) and you will find out what works best for you. Outsource "baby steps" when you are 100% sure about how each step is going to benefit your campaign.

If you are still starting, I think it's better if you just do it yourself first. This way you can learn and be an expert on that field you chose. Then you can outsource and get some more help.

    Thanks for the advice.

I am going to learn this stuff myself.

I've started going through a tutorial for adding code, (just added adsense code, even though its not showing on my site, but that might i've literally just done it and the back up ad is to leave blank.)

Seems pretty simple. But I am sure certain things are not.

I'll probably only outsource work that I find too complicated.

And then to automate later on.

I can't seem to add the code in the right place for my adsense. Its just not coming up on my site at all.

I am trying to put it in the header and footer of each article, but its a no show.

Could it be my theme? I am using a free wordpress theme.
