Affiliates have ruined search

Whenever I want to look up reviews of a product or plugin, I do a Google search and it's just listing after listing of affiliate sites that offer zero value. These sites aren't reviews, even though they claim to be. They just list all the features of the product/plugin and then give their positive spin on it so you'll click on their stupid affiliate link and buy.

I hope there is a Google update one day that wipes these sites out. If you're going to provide a review, then provide a real review, not crap disguised as a review - and very thinly disguised may I add.

In many of these cases, these guys and ladies never used the product themselves and are just reviewing it for the sake of getting ranked and making sales.

If you want REAL reviews from people who have used the product, you can usually find them in forums. Someone started a thread and is asking about the product.

      sidee,

Google has already taken some actions against these thin attempts to direct traffic through their affiliate links. I agree though, that they haven't gone far enough yet to stop this nonsense.

IMO, Google is careful not to "slap" too many affiliate sites as they (Google) benefit from the income that such sites bring to Google through Adsense, Adwords, banners, and all the other ways they fuel their business through their advertisers.

If you're looking for real reviews Youtube is usually a pretty good place to look. It's also a good place to put your reviews if you're looking to make affiliate sales from reviews.
