Lose weght or grow roses?

As a trembling newbie about to reach 30 posts (in fact, this is it!) and thus now able to sell on the WSO board, I am looking at my 10-pack of PLR and feeling very defeated. I chose a niche which I thought was in high demand, but now I hear the market is oversaturated and I should have chosen a niche less popular.

OK, so should I go to the rankings pages and scroll down to the very bottom to find my niche? I thought this was in direct contradiction to what I first heard: to go for those areas most people search for, i.e. dating, weight loss, etc.

I love to write, am interested in most anything and love the research process. I had considered writing a packet about roses (their history, significance of color, symbolic applications, etc.) but thought only my maiden aunt in Pasadena would be interested and would buy all 30 packs just like she used to buy all my Girl Scout cookies.

Anyone able to suggest niches in which I might write and actually make sales?

Thanks in advance.

Let's look at where you are now...

You are new. You love to write, and are good at it, and will be growing over time what you have written and published online.

Not everything you write is going to work for you, but some things will, and some trial and error will tell you what is working. You need a way to grow your content, and a way to measure success.

So my advice to you is come up with a plan (maybe use google docs), and decide where you are going to publish the content and how you are going to measure the traffic you receive. And definitely plan to keep revising and improving this document!

You need to handle this part first, and then at least you will be able to think about this with increasing intelligence.

    Good luck!

    Hi Robin,

Being that the niche you chose is "oversaturated" -- Shouldn't that mean that there are PLENTY of marketers to sell your PLR packs to?

Think about it: If you were trying to promote a weight loss product to the public you might get stuck because the market is oversaturated... BUT, since you are selling MARKETING MATERIALS in this niche I don't see why you wouldn't have a TON of customers (fellow marketers who want your PLR articles).

    Best,
    Shane

If you are writing PLR packs I would think the more popular the niche the better for you. Since there are many people involved in the niche, there will be more customers looking to buy your stuff, yes?

    EDIT:
Just saw what Shane wrote, so .. err... umm... what he said!

    Hello Robin,
imho: You sould start making something you like: if You have the passion the people can feel it, and even if you make some errors: making mistakes on something you like is only something about you'll smile.

    Hello Robin,
Actually I love Roses. In the UK this could be regarded as a niche market definately a lot of interest here for this. If your wanting to write for other marketers you need to find out what is hot, a tip have a look at Associated Content or Ezine Articles for topics discussed & most read. Even here on the forum people are always asking for info on certain topics that gives you clues, on what to write and set up packages.
Hope you find something and wish you luck in your first wso.

    You should do both!

You never know what people are interested in and, in fact, I have had as good a response to the gardening PLR I have sold as I did with the weight loss PLR.

There is so much free PLR out there and writers writing (albeit not always that well) for super cheap that I don't know that the market for PLR is where it used to be especially for competitive niches like weight loss.

But you could give it a shot and if it does not do well put the articles on sites that pay per ad clicks. I have several articles that have made me hundreds of dollars from ad clicks on content sites. And I earn quite a bit of passive income from these sites every month from articles I wrote months ago.

Now if you look at what CashCow has done, she has spun PLR in a very creative new way and that is what I think you have to do in general to move PLR these days.

Let me get this..so your "problem" was you made a WSO which is a pack of 10 PLR articles?
Well..maybe you want to consider offering a writing service instead and then write articles depending what the customer wants?

I can only speak for myself, but i can get PLR on about 8712 zillion places on the web - besides "PLR" has a slight negative note to it since it implies its free and many others have the same articles.

Robin, if you already wrote your 10-pack of PLR and it is ready to go, just put it up and see what results you get.

Once you have results and have looked at those results and have gotten feedback from a couple people, and drawn your own conclusions from all that, then and only then decide what you can do differently/better in your next 10-pack of PLR... whether that is choosing a different niche, writing longer or shorter articles, going for a desperate market, getting clients instead of doing PLR... whatever.

Really I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not try to make that type of decision or even think about that type of thing before you have gone through with the first cycle of action-results. Do not let anybody tell you anything until you have your own experience.

By your attitude and your writing in the thread you obviously have what it takes to do well as a ghostwriter/freelancer, all you are missing is to do it, refine what you did, take advice, and do it again. You will do great.

Roses! Think about it. Every year, spring time you go into Wal-Mart and what do you see? Roses. I think a few more people other then your aunt likes roses. A good niche. Write some PLR articles and if the price is right I'll buy them.
