How much time do you newbies spend online looking to make money?

You know my wife looked really hacked off today, she says to me " you spend every spare second you have on that dam computer have you actually made anything yet "

Of course I turn round and say I am learning my dear, and I promise you it will not be for nothing I will earn us an extra income I just have to put the work in. And I also get her to remember I have made $79 in the last 8 months

Just wondering how long do you guys spend on the computer and does the better half get just a little annoyed about the time you spend fixed to the computer?

cheers

Well when I was first time in Internet Marketing, I'd literally spend all hours of the night on here trying to just make a buck!

But in the end it's a perfect job if your the late night insomniac that just has a lotta time on his hands, etc...

When I was a "newbie", I had a position at a company where I was in charge of the website, and a lot of my time was spent "researching" ways to improve the website, from design to programming to seo, so I was fortunate enough to sort of be getting paid to study and learn. It was a great match. The company I worked for got to #1 for the keyword "shoes" for a while, and they were happy, and I left them in a great position as I went out on my own.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Lol nice to know I am not the only one that gets the grief for being glued to the computer for what they think to be a complete waste of time.

I had to take about 3 weeks off from work, so I started researching anything that had to do with making money, so I spent every single day about 13 hours doing that.

Now that I'm back at my J.O.B. I spend 95% of my free time researching, 4% for me and just 1% DOING which is why a lot of noobs like me don't make any money in IM.

My wife just hate the fact that I spend all this time doing "nothing" but I believe it'll be worth it when I start DOING 80% of my free time.

well, well, this is all too familiar for me. "lately, you have been so grumpy, and snapping at me, its coz you spend so much time, in the internet, that you hardly sleep anymore..."
ok, when i found out about this forum i was spending minimum 2hrs in this forum, and maybe two more hours doing my own thing,twittering,facebooking,searching....
    so max of 4hrs/day.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I think it's common for new Internet marketers and new business owners to end up in a situation where there's seemingly no end to the work day. I know I definitely had that problem and still do.

With a normal job, you usually have clear hours that determine when you come and go, but when you're running your own business, you can always convince yourself that there's another thing you need to do or learn.

Additionally, when you're running your own business, your workflow can be pretty asymmetric. There's much more work to do leading up to and immediately following a product launch than there is several weeks later, when sales are rolling in without much additional effort.

In any case, it probably isn't a bad idea to periodically reevaluate how you spend your time. It's pretty easy (at least for me) to fall into a rut of doing unproductive things or not-all-that-productive things on the Internet and counting it as "work."

My wife never really got annoyed, but she did get frustrated when I was not making any money.

When I started making money she would ask... Why are you not on the computer.

Now she just asks... How do you make so much money without working that much?

    How sweet it is

Every waking hour that I can possibly get, and then some lol! It seems like anything you read and try to learn, even though the the person is trying to give you all the info they got to get you going, there is about 20% missing and THAT is the crucial 20%.

I feel that I am SO close to being able to do this, but where is the other 20%?

What is annoying to me, is that anybody experienced says to do this or that, but, they do not actually tell you HOW. Anyone, who has the knowledge, please create a newbie monthly membership site explaining EXACTLY how to do this.

Meaning, if you say "copy and paste", if you are a complete newbie, you probably not even know how to do that. I've read SOOOO many posts on how to do thia and this and that, but the fine details are left out (as a noob how am I supposed to know all of that).

I'm not saying that I am totally stupid but if you miss just one small part of the puzzle, you just can not do it.

If I knew how to do this even just to make $5 a day, I'd be willing to put ALL of my effort into it. Don't have the money to pay a guru, or a coach, just need some advise. I'm no lazy bum and I WILL keep at it, sleeping less until I get it .

Your honey should be grateful that you are constantly TRYING and yes, please show her all the replies in this thread. Having read some statistics (correct me if I am wrong), 98% takes no action whatsoever.

IMHO, she married a possible GOLDMINE (well $79 bucks is not much but you are getting there).

I do not remember which thread but this other warrior's wife complained, left him and shortly after he made something like $300,000 and his phone almost burnt to the ground, her BEGGING to come back.

Idea: maybe involve her in your online quest??? Best of luck, Eva

I was a total computer newbie as well as internet newbie when I started - and I can tell you from experience that no product or program is going to provide your entire "education".

Use google search - "how to copy/paste" - "how to ftp" - on and on. Getting started is a mix of know WHAT you need to learn - and being proactive in learning it. Every bit of info you need can be found online - for free, too. I used to say it was a wonder google didn't charge me for searches as I spent hours and hours looking up how to do basic computer tasks and finding explanations for terms I didn't understand.

This is exactly what stops many new marketers from getting anything completed. They buy a program or blueprint and on Step 3 or 4 they run into a term or method they don't know how to do. So they complain info was left out - and they quit and move on to the next product.

Don't sit back and expect all the "learning" to be handed to you - go after it, find it, learn what you need to know and then go back to work.

No, maybe you misunderstood me, I am not sitting here waiting for somebody to give me a blueprint how to succeed. All I am saying is that for somebody that does have the experience, leaving out a minor but VITAL piece of info, is what stops me from moving forward, since I NEED that piece.

This forum is the most helpful, wonderful place that I have found and believe me, when I make my first buck, I WILL SHARE IN MY NEWFOUND KNOWLEDGE, no ifs and or b*ts about it.

You guys are all so sharing and I can not wait for the day when I can actually contribute something to help somebody struggling. I am not a teenager or a computer wiz, I do however have a burning desire to learn all of this.

Best of luck to all of you, Eva

    Hey.

I used to spend loads of time looking to make money. Now I just get on with things I enjoy, and let the money find me, it stops you moving onto the 'next big thing'.

I'm pretty new to the game, but I hate calling myself a newbie now!

I spend quite a bit of time building my offline businesses, but that's how that game works!

If I were you, I'd stop learning and take action. Stick to one method, and keep doing it, you WILL see results. Once you have mastered that, then learn another something else.

I want to learn everything there is to know, but I want to run a successful business first, then I will be able to spend my time researching, and learning!

But again, once you learn something USE it, apply it to you business! Don't just move on!

    Thanks

    Dave
