Using Friends' Knowledge/Experience

Does anyone have any experience of using their friends' knowledge or experience to create a product?

I have a friend who's fluent Spanish and I'm thinking about creating a course with him, teaching English people to speak Spanish, with me as the guinea pig! And then me market it.

I imagine that you could try and sell it successfully. Rosetta Stone comes to mind, but hey, i'm doing well in my niche, and there are major players here. Good luck man.

I think it's a fantastic way to get involved with niches you don't personally know too much about.

I've been trying for ages to get a friend to spill out his knowledge on a certain subject he's very skilled and a pro in.

He keeps saying he's "worried he'll get into trouble" but I'm not sure why as he's fully qualified to give this advice to people.

Ok let's look at this a different way. Take existing products you may have or want to build, then have him do a Spanish language version, you both split the proceeds on the spanish language portion. Remember there are a ton of spanish speaking people that don't speak english that could use some of the experience you have as an internet marketer. I may go this route with my sister in law that is fluent in Cantonese...

  • I am not sure how that is going to work. I mean if you are not speaking Spanish, you can't teach. So, you are using your friend.

I am not sure if he wants it. Like you don't want someone to use you right?

It can work if you can do something for him.

If he splits profits with his friend, no problem, right?
Benny Lewis has a very successful blog that kinda started this way - he challenged himself to learn a language in three months, got popular and people wanted to know about his study methods.

So I'm sure similar tactics can work out...
1- You start as a newbie, just like the people who are interested in language courses
2- You have proof that your method works... if you do get fluent, that is ^_^

I think you have a good plan. Get your first hour done, then market it. See what demand you get. Ask your customers about their experiences before building any more of your product.

    Good luck

Try to create a beginner's product with basic details and market that for testing purposes to start with.

Re your friend either clear out the splitting of the proceeds factoring in your personal time spent as well or find someone to work with online.

Sure can! I'm a marketer not an expert. I got a mate who is a body builder and I just got him to explain EVERYTHING to me in terms of routine, diet, calories etc.

I took that info and wrote it into an ebook with HIS photos (consent of course) and launched it. 50-50. Turned out to be a good launch.

So yeah, keep in mind we are marketers. So leverage other experts and share revenue.
