Advice needed- partnering, JV'ing?

I've been working with a designer/developer with some real skills, we seem to click well, and there's a trust we've built. And we've got an idea for a great product that requires both of our talents working together.

But we're both cautious about what type of partnering we do- levels of transparency, etc.

I'm sure there are a lot of options out there, as well as pitfalls to be aware of/avoid.

I'd welcome any advice you all might offer with this situation.

Thanks,
Dave

Whatever you do make sure that the lines of communications are always there. It's important to be open with any partner in business. He needs to know what you are doing and you need to know what he is doing.

I suggest doing a trial project together and if it works out well you should form a legal entity so that its a legal 50/50 partnership.

Make sure you both know what your job function is. It's easy to play the "You were supposed to do that" when you are learning the ropes of a new partnership.
