For example, if you want to build a website where you get your income from Amazon advertisements, Google Ad, about how much traffic would you need? What should your rank number be SEO Status PageRank? (scale of 1-9)

How much would you need to earn: $500 per month, $1000/mo, $1500/mo, $2000/mo...

Everything really depends. There are many factors. If you are using google adsense but rank for keywords that don't have a high CPC, it's going to take more traffic to earn the same amount of money if you rank for low CPC keywords.

For example, the keyword "abs exercise" has an approxmiate CPC of $.024 while the keyword "abs workouts for women" has a CPC of $3.78. This means that you would need a ton more traffic and a ton more clicks to earn the same amount for "Abs exercise" as compared to "abs workouts for women" (Note that these are incredibly hard keywords to rank for, it's best to find low competition keywords).

As for amazon, I like to promote products that cost over $100. That's just my preference because if someone were to buy a $10 product through my amazon link, I'd probably get pennies. So it take a lot more traffic and a lot more people to purchase through my links.

It also depends on the quality of traffic you are getting as well. If you purchase traffic that is low quality, you probably aren't going to get the conversions you want as compared to organic traffic or quality paid traffic. Traffic from social media is also a great source.

The amount per month is dependent on the product. If it's a real high end product that pays good commission then who's to say you couldn't make $2k per month off 10 sales with highly targeted traffic with real good ad copy and a product that people are ready to buy. I recently read a study where a couple different guys use ppc and seo to drive traffic to there amazon sites and they average about 2500 visitors per day and that every 1/20 visitor is a paying customer which would equal to approximately 125 buyers with a net of $435 per day in sales for one site. Each guy has multiple sites but that was the equation they used.

As for page rank for a site, if you are using ppc to drive traffic to your site page rank shouldn't have much affect on it. Now SEO might be a different story.

Low quality traffic would be like non targeted traffic. It would be like advertising a meat on a vegetarian website. Some tier 2 ad networks also send low quality traffic which does not convert well. Organic traffic is traffic generated through the search engines based on keywords you target to rank for. Organic traffic is free, but the results can sometimes take a long time to rank in the top of the search engines based on the competition level of your keywords. Quality paid traffic is usually used using ppc, ppv, etc.You purchase traffic through ad networks like google, bing, facebook, etc. You would need to bid on keywords for you niche and pay every time someone clicks your ad and is directed to your website. You pay no matter if they purchase your product.

You can find pages, blogs, articles, videos, etc. that are related to what you are selling and use your link in your comments to drive traffic to your site. If you are selling cameras, find videos about photography, comment on it and pitch your product in the comment. This is one way to do it.

Low quality traffic are traffic that will not respond to your offer. You can drive 10k visitors to your site but unless they have an interest in what you have to say those traffic are as good as none. This is low quality traffic.

Organic traffic tend to be more targeted since these usually comes from search engines. Paid traffic, on the hand, varies wildly based on how you built your campaign. Making sure you know what are the right keywords and demographic of your target audience is key to getting quality paid traffic from sources like Google Adwords and Facebook ads.

There are other factors to take into account. You can have lots of traffic, say 5000 visitors but if your visitors aren't buyers, then your sales will be low. On the other hand, if you have 500 visitors and they are all targeted, then your chances of conversion will be higher.
    Other things would be:
    Product price (Amazon)
    - If the products you promote are high priced, you need lesser traffic than low priced products, that will need more traffic (assuming all your visitors are eager buyers in both scenarios)

    CPC (Adsense)
    - pick keywords with higher CPC. Say, you can set a minimum amount of around $0.70 and look for any keywords with $0.70 and above only (and with decent search amount like 800 and above).

The amount of traffic that you will be needing will always depend on your site's requirements. You can have thousands of traffic but it can be nonsense especially if these are untargeted ones. Better to have just a thousand visitors that will more likely to convert for at least 30% than to have thousands and thousands of traffic without any conversion at all.

I suggest that you focus on actual numbers than on projected numbers.

    1. Be present where your market is and drive traffic to your site.
    2. Target the keywords that you think will get people to buy from you.
    3. PR is completely relative but you can build it by asking others to link to you.
    4. Don't set limits on what you can earn.
