Having thousands of twitter followers may be fun, but how are those followers actually converted into email subscribers? What's the process and techniques that work best? Whats the typical followers/subscribers conversion ratio? Are you sending them to your squeeze page through the single link available in your profile, or do you send tweets with link to squeeze page every so often? How often? Is there any good guide on this specific problem? |

A method to turn this followers into email-subscribers is describe in the twitter annihilation method. You have to direct your followers to a squeeze-page (here with a little video on it with content). Then when they subscribe you come to a site with a viral tweet on it (subscriber can tweet your message to their followers, which leads to more people coming to your squeeze-page). Tricky method, but I have seen good results even with the viral tweet script. I have read, that there will be a 1-2% conversion from followers to people, who click on your link. You can additional drive more traffic to your squeeze page with twitter using services like twollow (you can automatically vary your DM's) |

Thanks for this info. 1% conversion is very small number. Do you mean that I need to bild 100K followers in order to build 1000 subscrbers? |

Alminc, What I started doing and you might want to look into this. I have been creating content rich videos for specific niches. In the videos i give a ton of value and things they can do right away. At the end of the vid I have a clear call to action to visit my site for more useful content. I have a link in the videos and in the description of the video sharing site I use. Then I send a tweet out to my followers who are also in this targeted niche and ask them to RT if they found it useful. I am testing this and so far I have notice a jump in opt-ins doing it. It's very subtle and it seems to work. Just a thought you might want to consider. |

If your landing page is good enough and offers a very high quality freebie - you can convert about 40% or more of them to subscribers over time.

Try adding an advertisment to your newsletter in the background image of your Twitter theme. Many people do this and it cuts down on the spam tweets. Plus you get a better quality subscriber since you know the subscriber actually went to your page to see the sign up form. Just have an image of your newsletter and tell them to sign up at "and put your site name there" Works for my friend Adam Spiel. Just check out his Twitter background. Michael J Ottman |

I have one account I'm just starting to work with that autosends a direct message when they follow me that sends them to a squeeze page to get a freebie. My results aren't statistically relevant yet, but it's converting much higher than 1-2%. I haven't tried it yet, but this tool from Paul Hancox looks like it will help too: TweetFurther.com - The viral marketing tool: Reward your visitors for tweeting your message on Twitter |
