I was just wondering how you guys go about finding blogs that accept guest blogging? And how do you approach those blogs after you find them?

Just contact the owner of any blog and ask them if you can write a guest post.

You don't get what you don't ask for.

How do you find blogs to post on? Again, Google is a great place to start. Search for [your niche] + "guest post" or "guest posting" or "guest blogging" etc. Even if they don't advertise that they accept guest posts, it never hurt to ask!

Before approaching the people who run the site, make sure their site is a quality site. Make sure other posts on the site are well written and researched. Make sure the site has a following. Remember, the point of a backlink is for people to see it. If no one is reading the site you're about to guest post on then what's the point? Also, be on the lookout for where you could add your post to their blog. Maybe they're lacking in a certain area that you happen to be very knowledgeable in. Try and come up with a unique idea or thought provoking title.

Once you've decided that it's a quality blog to guest post on, it's time to introduce yourself. You will want to be polite and professional. Obviously, no typos or misspellings. And you'll want to include these points:
    • Your name
    • Where you're from (what website)
    • What your guest post would be about (Thought Provoking title)
    • Samples of your work on other blogs
    • If they have any restrictions (length, images, etc)
    • When would they want the post
    • That's pretty much it. Start small, build credibility, and grow!

Nate made a lot of great points above. I would also add that it helps to link them to content on your own blog that is high quality and relevant to their site. You can also pitch multiple ideas at the same time. This will give them a couple different options to choose from so if they don't like your first idea you wont be shot down immediately.

Also, make sure you look for their guest posting guidelines. Some people will give you the exact steps of how to submit a guest post inquiry (who to submit it to, what format, etc.) They will often give you hints as to what kind of content and length of content they are looking for.

As Nate mentioned above you also want to find quality sites. Make a list of sites and do some research on them to rank them. Go for the ones you think are the best quality and will provide the best results first.

Finally, don't be discouraged if you don't hear back fast. Popular blogs are run by busy people that will often take a while to respond to you. They have a lot of other guest post inquiries and things to weed through.

      Hope this helps...

    Hi,

For I.M. Top Blogs you can look at "Winning The Web".

It lists the TOP 100 traffic blogs and you can go through each one
to see where guest blog posts are being accepted on a regular basis.

And then you can of course content them and see if you can guest post
    yourself.

    All the best,
    Gavin

Nates and wfletch already discussed some great points and I would like to add that after you find the blogs to guest post on, it is better to interact with them first by either commenting on their posts or sharing their posts on social media or engaging with them on social media or by just sending them an informal email telling them how much you liked their posts. This is just to create an introduction and a kinda relationship with the blogger.

After few interactions, if you ask them for a guest post on their blog on some topic that their audience might find interesting to read, they might accept guest posts faster.

Just make sure that you aren't guest posting to their blog for a backlink. The main aim should be to drive visitors to your blog and get your brand known among huge people that your blog doesn't yet get.

Blog with us, as long as it isn't too spammy and has some value as far as content.

Don't guest post at blogs that are OBVIOUSLY taking guest posts. Google is penalizing guest posts. Instead, use social media to find HIGH QUALITY niche-specific domain relevant blogs that DO NOT regular publish outside content. Use social media to build credibility with these and get those HARD TO GET links. That's real SEO. Any 'shortcuts' will either NOT PRODUCE results or get you PENALIZED.
