Need advice on email responder information and my website please!

My blog targets parents of young kids and I sell digital products to them. I'm going to do a lightbox (think that's what it is called) to get them to subscribe. This is where I would like advice, I had planned on giving them a coupon code for signing up, instead of an ebook or something like that. That way, if they were thinking of buying a digital product they could get a 10% off coupon by subscribing. Is that smart to do, or am I just potentially losing money on something they might have bought anyways? Or is it really an investment on the list that everyone says is profitable down the line?

Then for the emails, I was thinking about how I could incorporate a OTO and other sales...Maybe once they subscribe and get their coupon, I could do a OTO for my highest selling digital product for an amount less OR do a clickbank product that is of course in the parenting niche.

Does the above sound like a good start, or should I hold off on selling since I'm already selling something as the main focus of my site?

Also, is it wise to leave off ads on my blog and save it for my email list? Or is it ok to do Amazon adds for toys?

Thanks for any advice, my website is new and I've been working on the products and blog but I know I need something in place to get their email. I actually already got my first $10 sale lol I was freaking out because I hadn't even tested my product but wasn't expecting anyone to buy anything yet, but all turned out ok.

I think it sounds like you're off to a good start - you at least have a lot of ideas rolling around in your head that are definitely worth putting into action and testing!

    Just from my experience:

I used a similar method with one of my sites - where I offered a discount for an opt-in.

The conversion rate was incredibly low. Basically, only people that KNEW they were going to buy something opted in...so...I probably lost out on some money there.

Given my experience, I would recommend against that format.

Now, you can maybe give away something for free to encourage the optin....and then...in your autoresponder series...include a coupon to help promote the purchase of one of your products.

I believe that would work better for you.

Hi, good to hear that. You definitely need an autoresponder. What I would suggest is instead of giving coupon (discount) the best is give them an ebook teaching them the features and how their kids will benefits from the digital product. Use that as a giveaway product ( the ebook). You design a squeeze page to collect their emails and give them their free gift (which is the ebook on a particular digital product). In that ebook ensure you have a link to your sales page. After collecting their emails send emails at intervals on more features of other digital products. Hope that will help.

    Hi,

    1. Give away something for FREE in exchange for an opt in.

    2. Use Getresponse or Aweber to collect email address's.

    3. If you use Wordpress for your site you can also add a side opt in form
using the widgets feature in the dashboard.

All you'll need to do is add your opt in form code to that widget from your
    email auto service.

    4. And yes SELL something as an OTO. That is why you build a list. I make sales
every single day thanks to email marketing from the products I sell.

You could maybe offer the discount as part of your paid offer as a BONUS as your
new prospects pass through the back end of your funnel.

    Good luck,
    Gavin

Just take that one extra step; it may be the one that is pivotal to changing your life forever!

Think of of just one big problem that parents with young kids face and create a free report addressing the solution to that problem.

Make sure that it is a problem that they are DESPERATE to get an answer to.

Then, in your email series, address the other problems that they face, and then educate them as to how your products can help them with those problems.

Save the coupon code for promotions that you can do later on to encourage non buyers to buy.

Also, make sure that you segment your buyers to a separate list, that way you can create special email campaigns for those who don't buy.
