Clickbank BULLCRAP - Preventing paying

So i opened an account a while back and have made about 15 sales from my product and i yet havent got a check i email them and they state this crap

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. You have not been issued a check because your account has not yet met our "Customer Distribution Requirement", which states that ClickBank accounts cannot be used for the sole purpose of collecting rebates or otherwise extending credit to yourself or others. In compliance with US law, ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
* Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers and
* Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.

This requirement is in place to help prevent affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate Program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own ClickBank purchases.

Please note that once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, the full balance from your account will be paid on the next check issuing date. Also, please keep in mind that you only need to meet the Customer Distribution Requirement one time per account (not per check).

Like what the hell???

They do that so that people don't just sign up for an affiliate account and then use their affiliate link to buy products at a discount. As soon as you get orders from the five different card numbers and two of these come from different sources (VISA or MC or PayPal) your check will be issue in the next two-week pay cycle. I know--it's frustrating, but they have to do this to try to prevent scammers from abusing their system.

[QUOTE=roley;900823]So i opened an account a while back and have made about 15 sales from my product and i yet havent got a check i email them and they state this crapQUOTE]

Was this your own product that you have listed with clickbank? And they owe you money for the sales?

    Or are you the affiliate?

My experience has been, if you use your own affiliate link to buy other products, that you won't get paid any commissions for buying these yourself.

I have read comments by people recommending that you can use your own affiliate link to buy something, but you won't get any commissions for that unless you have a bunch of affiliate sales to offset your own purchases.

I hope you get it worked out.

You might learn a thing or two about Clickbank from it, Harvey. Guy that wrote it seems to know a little of what he's talking about.

I have an account that is a few months old - it gets a sale or two a month so it has maybe $125 in it. No check so far due to the "distribution requirement". But - I guess I can wait (like I have a choice)

This requirement is CLEARLY outlined in the client contract and documentation before you signup with Clickbank....

It's widespread knowledge and you should have known this before you began your promotions.

That may sound a little harsh.. but it's true.

I appreciate your frustration, but the policy is in place to safeguard us all...

It cuts down on affiliate self credit.. if every one of your customers joined as a CB affiliate, simply to get your product(s) at a discount.... you'd have 75% less profits..

With this policy in place, it makes that harder, or at least inconvenient for them to do so..

          Jay:

This would be all fine and well if he was merely an affiliate.

This guy paid $50 to put his product on the board, and the sales are for his product.

I'd be steamed too if they did this to me.

Most were paypal sales and they dont count them

They only count 5 sales from credit cards and they cant be 5 mastercard or 5 visa they have to be a mix

I have met that, I have 3 mastercard and 2 visa sales and all the rest of my sales are paypal

i have emailed them anyway. I will update here on the results on monday or tuesday when they get back to me

So the only reason that Clickbank won't have paid out is because of the limit you have set on your account.

For example: If you've set the payment to be actioned at $200 and you've only reached $197 at the pay time, then that won't set off the payment because you've not met your target.

If you are new, then the requirement for payments is bw = bi weekly - you have no choice on this... although I stand to be corrected.

It really does pay to take the time to figure out how clickbank works. I've posted a lot of info on my blog.

Basically you need to set the payment level that suits you...... anything from $10 upwards.
Then you need to get 5 sales from different people, using different visa and mastercard and a paypal payment, then you are off and running.

Clickbank do pay and they pay regularly.

Anyway looking forward to what they respond to you.

        Just my 2c

So, you've made the sales and met the cdr (customer distribution requirement) but still not been paid.......... erm............

OK, let's assume your product is the lowest price $4.95

You've met the cdr 5 sales minimum = $24.75 - their refund keep back of 10% = 24.75-2.48 = $22.27 which you will get two weeks after the close of those sales.

Payments for those who are new are made bi weekly, so your payckeck for 10/06/009 covers anything in your account balance to the dates 28/05/2009 and 03/06/2009 less the allowance that they keep back to cover for refunds.

Looking forward to their reply and your posting back here, as something isn't quite right here.

Intersting - and thanks for posting.

Ok I tried this by creating another ClickBank account and buying my own product. yes ClickBank has not paid out the affiliate commission. They deducted the money though from my product sale.

So question is this - Say they never disburse the monies which do not fall within their Terms then what happens? Do they reimburse back to the product owner after a specified time? I would guess NO. With every sales page having a prominent affiliate link I think a lot of people do this. So while the money is sitting in ClickBank's coffers they are making interest on it not the product owner, are they even holding it in escrow.

ClickBank is not the only one think of all the unpaid Adwords money being held by Google because of their $100 minimum distribution limit!!

I am not clear what you are saying.

When you say 'not paid out' do you mean that the commission
does not appear in your account ?

If it was a valid affiliate purchase i.e the order form
showed [affiliate=yourid] then you will receive commission
otherwise you as the vendor will receive the whole amount
      (less the ClickBank deduction)

This may be a bit off topic, but is Clickbank even a legit site at all anymore???

It seems like their marketplace is full of fraudulent ads and scams.

I've been looking for the past few days and all I see is: Paidsurveys, Spambot programs, etc.

Well i finally got back and they apologized as they didnt see the 5th sale

I asked when would i be receiving a check and they said a check will go out on July 8th Wednesday ( 3 weeks from now )

Surely they havent done 2 payouts already this month ( june ) have they?

Im starting to think going through clickbank is not a good idea. There seems to be lots of reasons to not use them vs use them

relax...once you get rolling the checks come regularly. As a matter of fact I usually get my check on the day or the day after they say that they're sending them out. I know your frustration though. I know that it seemed like forever before I got my first check but wow was it sweet when it came!

I'm not a huge CB fan and I think that there is some flakiness in their system but as a publisher I don't think they can mess with you too much...you see the sales and they should match up with your stats.

As far as not using them...they're going to be my choice when it comes time to launch a product...lot of good affiliate marketers associated with them so that's my reasoning...
