Starting a sports blog - how to get pro sport photos?

Hello everyone,

I am working on starting a basketball focused blog and would like to have a section for news on the NBA and the NCAA however I'm not sure the best way to find graphics for the posts. There's no way that I can afford the fee's from Getty and the majority of pictures don't offer the embed feature. I think it would really add some authority to my site if I can actually use NBA photos but I don't want to get in trouble either...

    There is sometimes a cost to doing business and you have chosen a business subject that has a high cost. Sports figures, celebrities, and other high profile stars are the ones the photographers (paparazzi) follow because there is a big demand and they the most sellable types of photos.

    The best answer is to license your images and charge the cost against your business as an expense. Other options include taking your own photos or hiring someone to take them for you. You could also hire an artist to create the images you want.

    Don't figure you can just "borrow" (more aptly termed "steal") such images. Getty and others are very watchful over their celebrity images and they are easy to trace.

    If you can really afford the above suggestions then your best bet is to record some videos on HD TV and take some screenshot. The quality is not the same as real photos but at least you can have your own original non-copyrighted photos. I do the same for my Korean Drama blog. I take screenshots from HD videos.
