Videoscribe/Hand Drawn Videos, what are peoples experiences good or bad?

Hey guys,
I see that videoscribe offers a free trial and I have seen a few of this style video around on sales letters.

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the effect of these (Not actually using or creating the videos themselves, I'm talking about making sales from them).

And more specifically, has anyone split tested from a hand drawn video to a standard video?

I haven't split tested versus a 'standard' video, but split tested versus no video at all and the results were amazing - if I recall it was around 25% increase in conversions, but that was a good 18 months ago now. (That was a sales page).

On a squeeze page, I tested no video versus a hand drawn one - but the results were less impressive at but still an increase of about 4% over the page with no video.

Problem now, is that many people are using them.

For me on all my products sites, the simple narrating text on a screen (like a Power Point presentation) has produced better conversions by 18% to 43% percent compared to those hand drawn videos.

      That's conclusive enough for me

They're catchy and really caught attention when they first hit, but now there are tons of them and little differentiation between each.

If you like the concept, you might want to go with a custom, hand-drawn video.

I know most people say these videos increase conversions and they can... However I'd focus on getting your copy as best as it can be on it's own first then once you KNOW that you have blazing copy test adding in some videoscribe stuff vs. a full blown videoscribe style video...

Again, the WORDS (copy) in your offer are the most important element hands down...

I did split test a landing page: Doodle type video did increase the opt in rate by 30% vs powerpoint type video and both performed better than still image.

On the actual sales letter, the Doodle video didn't do as well as the traditional powerpoint type video. Conversions drop by 18%. My guess is the powerpoint type video looks more "factual" and consumers like to think they are making an informed decision.

Split testing is cheap, not doing so can cost you a fortune :-D

Neat topic guys; totally new to this concept. Video does rock though, either/or, as it's a trust building tool in a big league way. Thanks!
