Question about Affiliate % and OTOs

As the title states, I have a question regarding commissions offered to affiliates. I am releasing a product that will contain two OTOs, both of higher value than the initial offer. After purchase of first product, my plan is to send the buyer to the first OTO. If they decline I'll offer one more OTO with some components removed and at a lesser price.

The initial product will be around $12-$17, the first OTO will be around $37 and the second OTO will be around $27.

My initial thoughts are to offer 100% commission on the initial product, with me at the very least getting a buyer's email address for my list. From there, I was thinking of adding a percentage of the first OTO as a second tier affiliate benefit - sell x amount of initial product to qualify for a percentage on the upsell/OTO. The second OTO, I haven't decided upon regarding offering the same percentage value as the first OTO or not.

But perhaps it is best to pay out a flat commission for all of it?

The question I have is what the 'standard', if any, might be for OTOs (OTOs that are more expensive than the original offer) when you are offering 100% commission to affiliates on the initial one.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts ...

I would do 100% up front and 50% on OTOs. This seems to be a pretty common set-up.

    Hey Christopher,

I did/do both - launching products, and running affiliate offers...
I'm not "Frank Kern" (yet ), but I can definitely say that some time -
"Keep It Stupid Simple" works the best...

I'd go for a flat commission... 100% FE 50% OTO (as suggested above), and any other "competition-based" commission should be regardless of anything...

Just "Best Affiliate, with most sales get X"...

    Good Luck :-)

I do have one more quick question regarding this:

If a customer declines both OTOs and then follows a link in the initial 100% commission product at some point in the future to the sales page for the $37 product, now $47, and makes a purchase, is it standard practice to pay out an affiliate commission on that purchase?
