Hey Everyone -

I was talking to a friend the other day about IM. I was explaining that several years ago I had a website that made some extra money for me. I lost the site when my domain registrar went out of business. I explained how I tried a year or so later to get back into IM but I could never seem to make anything work. That spurred the question... "How come?"

I gave him a reason or two and continued the conversation. Since then I have dwelled on that question. I thought about the reasons that kept me from succeeding, but I am wondering what may have stood in your way.

I"ll start by sharing what got in my way..

Information overload
Over-complicating
Trying to hit a home run
Lack of a goal with a solid reason
and Mindset

What has gotten in your way and kept you from achieving success?

what has gotten in my mostly is yes information overload mostly and the number one thing is not putting what I've learned into action. What I really should be doing is not worrying about learning all the new methods I should be focusing own what I do know and putting that into action.

Action=Results and if you never do it you will never get results this has being my biggest problem. The more you develop your own system or formula to follow day by day the easier everything will come and the faster you will see results.

I guess what I'm trying to say is take a max of three techniques that you like to do the most and start applying those techniques and stick with them become a master of them and you will soon see serious results.

The biggest cause of internet marketing failure is the amount of duplicated, regurgitated information that is allowed to be passed off as 'new', 'secret', 'revolutionary', 'guaranteed', 'free' or 'killer'.

This does not equate to information overload - it equates to a massive con of huge numbers of people in the name of 'marketing a report' or 'creating a product'.

There are centres of excellence on the internet but they are slowly being buried under 'once re-wrote a book' posers who simply try to carry off the pose for as long as possible.

Where did they get this idea from? From 'once re-wrote a book' posers who simply try to carry off the pose for as long as possible.

Until there is some form of advertising control over what Fred can put up on the internet as a blow your socks off, guaranteed, never seen before, miracle marketing solution that requires no knowledge, no work, a click of the mouse and $7, failure will be endemic in the world of internet marketing to internet marketers.

      1. IM is NOT....nor will it ever be....A BUSINESS. It's a highly leveraged medium. That's it.

      2. You can't make chicken salad out of a bunch of garbage.

Somewhere along the line you have to sell shit people want...because all the google ads, articles, rss feeds, seo, et al......will never be enough to make a living selling something no one cares about.

      3. In the old days....I had to sell in order to eat. That meant I had to sell something people wanted for more then it cost me to produce or steal. I figured out quickly the product was a hell of a lot more important then the method of selling it.

      4. The greatest fallacy in the so-called IM world.....is the notion that if you'se build it they will come. See...that's how it's taught today.....and it's ass backwards and wrong!

A MEDIUM...might get them to come to the dance.

But when they show up.....you better have something to spike the punch bowel with ....or that hot chick is going to walk out the door....not having spent one friggin' dime with you'se.

If you don't give up, you cannot fail. Go until you succeed as Anthony Robbins states.

Sure there is a massive amount of information out there. It's easy to get pulled in where you feel you've got to buy it all or you might miss out. But with the constant onslaught of new offers, you won't get anything done if all you do is shop for more. As Marc Rodill stated - you've got to take action on the information. Learning leads to knowledge. But action gets you what you want.

Information overload is a reality of the times. But what if the opposite were true? What if information was scarce? Would we blame the lack of informative resources for our lack of success... or would we find one suitable resource and apply it diligently?

You've got to be able to separate helpful information from the rest. And you've got to be able to do it expediently, so you can focus on the action steps you need to take.

Decide on your goal. Get clear about what you want. Repeat it to yourself and imagine actually having it. By doing this, you'll engage your powerful subconscious mind to help pave the road for you. Then create a simple plan to get there. Then just take the next action step in front of you.

Every tiny step moves you closer. You can always adjust your plan as you go (and you most likely will). If you keep moving in the direction of your goal, you will get closer to it.

On the other hand, if you start these action steps and then look for clear evidence that you've becoming a success, you may feel disappointed. But the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. It's like a seed in the soil. You plant it, water it, feed it and otherwise nurture it (as you should with any business) and you have faith that it will grow into a beautiful plant. You don't dig it up after a couple of days claiming that it failed to produce. Yet that's what we do when we "sample" one product expecting a miracle only to quickly abandon it in search of the true holy grail.

Set your target and create a one-page plan to get there. Stick with it. Keep moving towards what you want. When writing out your simple plan, include a few alternate routes as detours are a reality.

But don't change the destination and you will eventually get there.

      I respectfully disagree.

Sometimes....people would be better off "giving up" and moving on to something that works.

Taking action is a guru term that means nothing if the action you take turns you'se into the martyr of the week....who believes pain is necessary into order to succeed.

Banging your head into a tree every day.....is cruel. And it hurts.

When you sell "stuff" people want....you'll find it's usually pain free.

I like Tony Robbins as much as the next guy.....but walking on fire at one of his seminars....isn't going to stop the two big dudes from the local repo agency.....from jacking your car out of your drive way at 2am due to lack of timely payments etc.

Somewhere along the line....you gotta sell something. At some point you have to get out of the land of elves and little green men...and get....your bills paid...and then you can go walk on hot coals with Big Tony.

One thing that has interfeared with me
    was the FEAR of Success.

It sounds strange at first, but a lot of people
have it and never overcome that feeling.

My point is that it's easy to give up too soon and jump on the next big promise. If you're banging your head against the wall, of course you need to change strategies. That's where having alternate plans can be effective. Notice the result you're getting and adjust your course of action. But don't abandon your dream. Find another way.
