I'm promoting the release of an upcoming book and the author is not well known. The book will not be available until September. This gives me July, August to do some promoting on Social Media, FB Ads Etc. What would you do to promote it?

I would research the market to identify who the book is going to appeal to. You need to narrow the field (target your market) so you are gathering an audience of buyers that will be interested in the book.

Once you do that you can begin to collect emails and build a subscriber list.

Some authors will release a tantalizing 1st Chapter and use that as a lead magnet to peak the interest of those in the niche. Then selling the book to those who have already enjoyed the 1st Chapter (an introduction to the book) becomes easier.

Yea i agree, 1 chapter sneak previews works quite well, that is if your first chapter is able to hold the reader's attention... then maybe build up the hype using youtube? like get famous youtubers to review the first chapters..

    Hope this makes sense..

I agree with providing a teaser for potential readers to entice them to read the book. You can also start a blog or post some promotional vids on the net. You can get book reviews from individuals or try to get some amazon reviews. You can contact anyone you know and ask them if they could give an honest review of the book. If they agree, you can give them a promotional copy.

Find people who have authority in the niche of the book, and try to set up some deals with them. Try to get some exposure on blogs with a decent readership, and get tweeted by relevant people with followers.
