First, change your mindset. Though the bills may be piling up, you have to remember to stay focused on this new venture. Do not be intimidated or discouraged about your situation. You must remember that making money online is not easy. Here's one line that I had always helped me when I am seeing no progress with all the efforts that I had done: work, work, work. |

Sorry to hear you got laid off from your job. I am sure this are not easy times for you. My advice for you would be to keep looking for a job, even if it is part-time. Pizza delivery is a good way to get fast easy cash to help you cover your expenses. Having a reliable source of income will help you focus more and be more productive in your internet marketing efforts. I would also highly recommend you focus 100% of your efforts in doing one thing, and one thing only. If you find affiliate marketing interesting, then focus all your efforts in that and drop the adsense game... if you try to do a little bit of everything, you will accomplish nothing at all, you will become frustrated and you will probably quit the internet marketing game. If cash is low, I would recommend you make full use of the free sections in this forum to learn as much as you can, don't fall in the "newbie" pattern of buying every product out there. Last, but not least, you may want to start doing some bum marketing (if you don't know what this is, use the search feature in this forum). This is a good way to make some affiliate sales while you learn more advanced techniques without any outlay. I hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if you need help. -Guillermo

Heli1-- Sorry that you were laid off. I know that these are difficult economic times for many people. In terms of advice, I think Guillermo really hit the nail on the head. Use this forum as a resource. It is an incredible tool that will surely help you find some aspect of IM and making money online that will work for you. The other piece of advice that I would give to people new to this (and it is the same advice that was given to me) is stay focused. There will be a desire to try out fifteen different ways to make money. However, start with one thing. Master in and then replicate the success from there. Finally, ACT. It will be tempting to get pulled into this forum and all of the great news of financial success. Before you know it, twelve hours has gone by. Action is what creates the money. There are a million different routes that you can go. Some paths take a little longer to get off the ground. Research the different paths on this site and you will find one that seems feasible to you. Good luck! And, as always, feel free to PM me with specific questions. |

Hi Rick, I hope you recover from your situation. Here is some practical advice, in addition to the other Warriors... IF you were working in manufacturing, is it possible that there are other companies in that niche that could use your help getting their products exposed online? My suggestion is to help companies in your community get the online act together and charge them a fair amount for putting what you learn here to use for them. If you compete online you'll do ok eventually. However, IF you take what you learn here and apply it around where you live, I think you will be surprised what you can do and *earn*. Best, Sam |

Hi Heli1, the first and foremost thing you should do is start a Wordpress blog. Once you do, don't even worry about the look of it yet. Just start posting your experiences, your desires and your goals. Your blog is like an oil rig and as you post content on it, "algae" people, "little fish" will come and take a look at it. They will leave their comments which will in turn attract bigger fish "more traffic" and soon you will have sharks "hungry buyers" swimming around. Pick a niche that is interesting to you and as you take the necessary steps to succeed, post your successes and failures. You will be a guru to the newbie who is right behind you and they will follow as you guide them through the waters of making money online. Michael J Ottman PS, this analogy came from my own mentor, Alex Jeffreys |

I'm a newbie too. Just want to ask the same question just now. I started 'involved' in IM since March this year, and everyday I have to learn, learn and learn only to realize I spent to much time to learn and then forget what I learned. I just be A Warrior Forum Member last week. Looked like the best place since been IM addict. Thanks everybody for the answers.

| Yes, i totally agree. if you are still setting up your online career, its best to have something that actually pays for the bill. So you could concentrate online, instead of having this pressure on your back, that this has to work, because my electric bill is almost due. And online marketing is not an over the weekend wonder.

You can be blinded by your desire to have that freedom sometimes. Sorry to hear about how you lost your job, a similar thing happened to me recently. But I'm wise enough now to know that, for me, the most reliable source of income was to find a new job as fast as possible. Then I can spend my time on my business when I get the chance. As for what a newbie should do..... I highly recommend Bum Marketing, as it's how I got started too. You can hone your marketing skills and even build a list in the process. Plus getting that first sale is a real motivator. But after that, if you're in this for the long haul, then definitely start blogging. You can just blog about your marketing experiences, and give value to people. Online marketing is about building relationships with people, so having your backstory in one place is very beneficial.

The best way to start as a newbie is setting up your own blog site and make some useful content to your readers and if you are ready you can now host your own site which I mean you can buy your own domain for public viewing and so that you can start earning much money.

There are many things you can do as a newbie. And, I guess the first thing would be to start a blog. However, you want to merge over to list building as soon as possible. There's loads of great tutorials out there on how to get started. You can pm me if you want more info. hope that helps! |

I would say sign up with Clickbank or Commission Junction. Pick a program of interest and get a domain name redirect from Godaddy. If you get the .info ones you can buy it for like $2, (for a year or so). .Coms cost around $10. After that get an account with Ezine. Start writing as soon as possible trying to promote whatever product you chose. Someone on here told me you need about 200 articles or so before you really can see anything. So work your way up to those 200 articles. In the meantime if your money is really low you might want to consider getting a part-time job anyway, because contrary to what people say Internet marketing is not something that happens overnight. And this is from a person who loves it... (I've been doing IM since 1999). I've earned several thousand dollars yet I'm still wondering if there's some magic shortcut to make the money faster. I found one, (which I'll be writing about in a WSO in the upcoming months), but even that takes work. So, I say all that to say that you need to work hard and keep your mind focused. Don't buy into all the hype that it's your fault why your IM is not working. It takes work and dedication.

Hey there Rick... good questions to ask in the right place. First off, get your inner game in order. Make IM your hobby and your passion, not a way to make money (at first). Second, learn as much as you can. Learn, learn, learn.... observe and absorb. Third, forget about the "information". Get yourself a coach or mentor. It's too late for Howie Schwartz's Apprentice 4 program, but there are a lot of other great mentors. Simon Leung (google him) is taking on new people to train- convince him you're worth, and he may mentor you. Ask around, you may have to pay, but having a mentor is the way to go. Fourth, join or start a mastermind group. You know Anthony/Tony Robbins? Even with his success, he's still in a mastermind group. Maybe his success is due to his mastermind group. The point being, if you surround yourself with losers, most likely you'll be one too. Lay down with dogs and get fleas, right? Surround yourself with those that are making successes, and you'll do the same. Fifth, make money your oil not your engine. If money alone is your only goal, you ma have a modicum of success. If you make money the oil that propels your OTHER projects, then you'll always win. Sixth, Enjoy the process. Focus on the process, not the goals. Keep working the process you develop yourself and don't lose your sight in targeting the goals. Sure, goals are necessary, but not as necessary as the processes you build. Why? Often people tend to quit when they reach their goals, or, set "new" goals... goals are simply rest stops along the road of the process. Don't confuse the two. Hope this helps, keep posting so we can see how far you've gone! J. |

Hey Rick, Glad to see you've understood that getting laid off is nothing more than an opportunity. would you have ever ventured into the world of online marketing if you had not lost your job? Things are lining up for you and you already have the right mindset- hungry, and eager to learn. There's no one magic bullet Rick. Observe, Absorb, and Learn. If you're getting unemployment checks than you already have a monthly income, right? Maybe it's not what you're used to and it's tight in the budget each month, but you also have time to start observing, absorbing, and learning. Many people don't have that time- so you're already another step ahead of them. I think you should focus on what works and what's free. Learn wordpress.com, figure out how to use and manage the WP front end. Start a free blog. Begin doing keyword research on some niche that you love. Start adding content to your blog. Understand how the wp pluging ping-o-matic works. Put your keywords in the title of your posts and your tags. Submit your content to the top 40 - 50 ezine article directories. Build an infrastructure to your blog via a series of web2.0 properties like hubpages, livejournal, weebly.... Create backlinks. Don't worry about monetizing your efforts just yet, youre still learning and an "aged" site more easily takes affiliate links.... Do the process, understand how it works, then you'll realize there are a lot of things out there that will automate any process you can create or follow. Good Luck! |
