Domain Name Profits : How To Make As Much As $2,500 Per Month From Domain Names

I have had some success selling and buying domain names ( not sites) and I have been asked by many how I do it. Humans are generally lazy and greedy, they want to know how to make some xxxx amount of money without working hard for it.

Well it is possible to make money without working hard but the best place for that is not the internet. It is the nearest Casio.

Anyway, I want to spill the bean on how I make thousands of dollars from domain names. Happy reading....

Domain names are generally regarded as internet real estate. They are the "core" of everything done on the internet. The first thing anyone who wants to set up a website thinks is to buy a domain name. Domain names are simply like the address of a business. You can buy them and let them appreciate in value. You can develop them into a website and sell for high profit. Some time you can just buy and park it and still make money.

How To Monetize A Domain Name

1. PPC ( Pay Per Click) : There are lots of advertising businesses on the internet such as google.com, msn.com and many other sites that are ready to pay you to advertise on your domain name as supplement to their adsense program. This has nothing to do with google adsense. Many companies online focus on advertising as their major source of income.

Pay Per Click parking is free. All you need to do is to have a nice domain name, one that is specifically focused. Search engines and some advertising companies will supply the adverts to your domain name(s). You don't need to bother about how they do they, it is the work of the domain name aggregators.

You don't need to do anything. You simply wait for your cheque at the end of the month depending on the company you register with.

You can register with any of these companies :

Buy, Sell, Appraise and Auction Domain Names at Sedo, the #1 domain name aftermarket, broker, reseller, and appraiser!
GoldKey.com

The above are my best two domain companies.

2. Affiliate Marketing : The name speaks for itself. This method is capable of making you as much as $2,500 per month. Affiliate programs are programs that allow you to refer people to buy a product and you can earn as much as 75%.

There are thousands of affiliate programs online. 30% to 75% of their sales which means if you promote a $100 product and you earn 75%. That's $75. How will you feel making just 2 sales per day. That is $4,500 per month. Believe me this is very possible.

All you need to do is simply buy a "targetted" domain name and point ( or redirect ) it to your affiliate link which you will be given when you register with any affiliate program. You link will be used to tract our sales.

Digital Products Retailer: Affiliate Program & Sell Online - ClickBank
Commission Junction - A Global Leader in Affiliate Marketing, Online Advertising and Search Engine Marketing
Sell Products Online, Sell Online, Affiliate Marketplace, Sell Products Online With Paypal, Affiliate Marketing, Merchant Accounts, Free Product Listing, Digital Products, Affiliate Network, Promote Products, Sell eBooks Online, Sell Software Online,

are some examples.

read this : There was a guy who sells bass fishing and owns the website bassfishing.com. Another guy who wanted to visit bassfishing.com made the mistake of typing bashfishing.com, after making the mistake for some time, he noticed he has been typing the bash instead of bass and went to search for affiliate programs that deals with bass fishing. He found some and registered with them. He went to register the domain name bashfishing.com and redirected it to bassfishing.com and anyone who made the same mistake he made landed on bassfishing.com and he started making nice cool cash with the affiliate sites he registered with.

The above is call typos.

On a personal note, I have made so much money registered dropped or about to drop names and redirecting them to affiliate site. A good example is acneprevention.info ( no longer mine, I sold it for profit at sitepoint), I registered the domain name and redirected it to the acne free in 3 days affilitate site. Made 3 sales which totalled $75 and then sell the domain name at sitepoint for 199, making a profit of more than $200 for just a 45 dollar investment.

3. You can speculate : You can buy a domain name because of an upcoming event and leave it till some one needs it and buy it from you. Of course this will take some time but it surely pays over time. If you have heard about any international event coming up, like the olympics, new invention, soccer/football world cup e.t.c. You decide to register a domain say London2012.com then leave it for someone who needs it.

You need to be current in order to do this but note that the money from this does not come very fast but there is money to be made in doing this.

Flipping it : You have heard about site flipping right? You can buy a brandable domain name and develop it into a website then sell it on auction sites such as sitepoint, sedo e.t.c

My advise to you warriors who have so many domain names is, never leave your domain name empty waiting for someone to buy it from you. The domain names can be used to increase your adsense earning. This is the secrets of big marketers who are making $100k from adsense alone.

Remember to press the THANKS button if you find this interesting.

True that! I always thought what if you bought a domain name of some new upcoming actor or actress that is starting to shine but didn't make it huge yet, and didn't register there own name, you buy it and just sit on it, if they make it big maybe they will buy it from you for big money, if they don't make it big then w/e get rid of it! I wounder if this would work.

      Hi Roshan,

I would add to your post that I have made good money from studying how domain parkers make their money, but realising that they make their money by firstly -

      a) either being first to market on good domain names, particularly in the 'dot com boom' days

      b) being able to afford to buy in bulk

...and then once they have a large income, they step up their game by entering high priced domain auctions for domains with massive type-in traffic.

For the average person here, they are not going to see a good return on domain parking unless they can tap into one of the above methods (which is unlikely.)

Therefore, for most people here, domain parking isn't the best idea.

But, even with the most basic knowledge that can be gained from this forum, and with a little bit of initiative, the average IMer can take the domain parking model and put just a little more effort into developing their virtual real estate and make good money across a broad portfolio.

It doesn't take a lot of intiative, just a little bit.

The key is - find something that works 'across the board' (IE for any domain name in any niche) - in terms of -

      a) earning enough per year from a domain to pass the cost of domain purchase and hosting

      b) using the minimum amount of (semi-automated) promotion to get some ranking/traffic

Then tweak this process to make it faster/more profitable and/or scale it up sideways (buy more domains).

Then you have an autopilot business.

Put it another way, it doesn't make sense for someone with the most basic IM/SEO knowledge to park domains, unless they are getting returns and are so busy buying new domains for their portfolio that they don't have time to develop them a little.

Generally - no, it's called domain squatting and in most cases you'll have to hand over the domain or if you try and act smart, you might get sued.

Besides, it's illogical. There are so many phrases that people are already searching for that you can purchase and own and use freely without fear of losing it for nothing, that it makes no sense to squat on domains using peoples' names.

Why are so many people drawn to making a buck off the back of someone elses success? Make your own success.

I've always found it more profitable to put up a site on every domain I buy, even if its just a quick generic template with a dozen original articles to pad it out, or a WP blog with a dozen or so posts set to auto-post a few days apart for a few weeks. I prefer to buy aged, pre-owned domains at auction as they come with age authority, sometimes some established backlinks and PR. The older they are the better.

It doesn't cost anything to send a newly purchased domain some keyword anchored links from some of my other established sites in the same niche and before you know it, the new site is ranking for some long tails. Then on goes Adsense to generate some passive income.

Rinse and repeat (love that term) and watch the passive income grow as the population of domains grows.

          I love these threads...

Do "a", "b", and "c" then just wait to cash a check...

How big is the check? Hmm...
