I don't understand it... I posted an honest review about a product here on the WF and it was yanked with no explanation given. What gives? Are you not allowed to post HONEST reviews here with demonstrable facts about a WSO?

I know you can pay to post BS ones in the Warrior Classifieds area that are nothing more than affiliate promotion hog wash disguised as a review, but if you post an honest review by someone who actually purchased a product and provide objective information and then state an opinion, you're not allowed to warn other Warriors? Is the motto here at WF Caveat Emptor, or "Let the buyer beware"?

If real product reviews are not allowed, could you please state that somewhere, like in a sticky post, "No negative reviews of products allowed". If that is the case then why allow affiliates to post fake reviews in the Warrior Classified area? Or was my post pulled because I should have paid $20 to post an HONEST review and placed it in the classified section? I am really confused.

Why is it alright for lousy products to be allowed for sale to the unsuspecting, but when there is an honest review it gets pulled from the forum? I would also like to know why you guys removed my review without at least an explanation in the form of a PM?

Please understand, I am not trying to be a jackass, I really would like to know the answers to these questions. I have been a member here for 3 years and a War Room member as well as running my own WSOs and classifieds on the platform. I am grateful for the platform and I have benefited from it. I am just trying to understand what I did wrong.

May I make a suggestion... If you guys won't tolerate negative reviews, perhaps implement a ratings system where people can rate a product or service.

Most eCommerce sites like Amazon and such allow customers to post reviews about products right on the products page. I think it would be nice to have something similar here. At least that way people can make an intelligent buying decision.

Nobody can really comment without actually seeing the review, but here are a few things to consider.

Were there any personal "attacks" against the product vendor

Was it posted in the appropriate sub-forum

    6. This forum is not for reviews of WSO offers.
Right there in the rules for the review section.

Posted anywhere else would be a violation of rule #1.

You've been here long enough to know ANY comments about a WSO should be made in the WSO thread itself. Negative comments that are made by purchasers of a WSO and supported by facts are not removed from those WSO threads.

That's nonsense. It isn't so, at all: there are loads of negative reviews of WSO's in WSO threads. Including plenty that their vendors would love the forum to remove, but they can't get them removed, because they're straightforward, non-emotional, non-name-calling, factual reviews of WSO's posted in the WSO thread through which the poster bought the product. It was ever thus.

I strongly suspect those criteria didn't all apply to your review, if it was removed?

    Buffnstuff,

As already mentioned, it's against the rules to write a review on a WSO in the Product Reviews section for two main reasons:

    1. You can leave an objective review in the WSO Seller's thread.

    2. In the short time that WSO reviews were allowed in the Product Review forum, a lot of people abused it, so now it's not allowed in there.

I can certainly understand your frustration, but I hope the responses in this thread has clarified why the moderator removed the review.

Did you buy the product? Was your review a personal attack on the person or simply a review of the product? If you didn't buy it, you can't review it.

I did not make personal attacks.

I am aware of posting on threads negative comment and I would have. There was no WF thread but it was a popular product and still is. Since I don't want to get banned I won't name names.

Obviously I can't re-post the review or it will get yanked again.

I posted in the General WF forum. And yes I did purchase the product. I don't write product reviews on product I don't actually own and try to use.

Whoever the Mod or Admin is that pulled it, did so with no comment or PM. That is the part that really pissed me off. If someone goes through the time and trouble to review a product and the Mods yank it with no explanation that is just plain rude.

I don't get it. The rules of the main section clearly prohibit that kind of thread (Rule #1). Posting in violation of the rules is just plain rude, isn't it?

I'm one of the many forum-wide moderators here and I did not see your review, but I do have a question for you: in your original post you stated this was a review of a WSO, but you're now stating that there was no WSO thread. Is it a WSO that was closed or has the thread been deleted?

Obviously I can't re-post the review or it will get yanked again.

Yes, we don't allow any product reviews in the Main Discussion forum.

No, it's not. Posting in the wrong forum without being familiar with the rules is rude.

There are rules that cover this already and it's not possible to contact everyone whose post or thread we have to remove. If we did, there wouldn't be much moderation being done.

The main forum is for discussion.
What on earth gave you the idea that this was a review forum?
      Now that's plain rude.

      buffnstuff,

A review thread of any kind in Main Discussion is almost guaranteed to be deleted if a mod sees it. The main reasons for that policy having been put in place are:

      1. People used them to post fake positive comments (including shilling and affiliate promos).

      2. People used them to post fake negative comments to attack or pressure sellers.

      3. People often posted negative comments that were the result of failing to understand something about the product, or because of miscommunications. Those misunderstandings were often used to accuse someone of fraud when all that was involved was an honest mistake. Usually on the part of the person making the accusations.

These are, by the way, the same reasons you're not allowed to review any product for which there is an existing WSO thread. For those, there's also a 4th reason: Posting reviews outside the thread takes away from the realistic feedback prospective customers need in order to make a more informed decision.

The reasons for mods not explaining deletions have been listed here many, many times. They're also in two of the sticky threads at the top of this section. Most clearly the one for new members.

FYI, below is one quote Paul's referring to:

"10. Don't be surprised if something is deleted and you're not told why. This place is too big. It would take more time than there is in a day for us to notify every person of the reason, every time we deleted a post or thread. And that doesn't begin to count the time that would be wasted arguing with people who don't understand or refuse to accept the rules."

hmmm... It's taken 3 years a member and you haven't noticed there is a Review forum and you haven't noticed that threads get deleted all the time and pms are not sent. Have you noticed the Rules posted in the sections that explain all this?

I was just thinking how hard it sometimes is, around here, to predict which threads will close early/disappear, and which will "run and run". All good and helpful stuff, though - and thanks for the moderational ("moderatorial"?) comments in it.

i thought deleting posts or threads would be where it ends. WF doesnt really g ive you a reason for that. i really dont know why no explanation or reason is given to just ban or deleted threads. at least a pm wouldnt be bad. But for reviews, that is a way to far especially if the person is a war room member. i just paid $97 to be a war room member. i think since its a paid forum, members should be given a reason or a warning before getting banned or deleting reviews or threads

It's actually so simple. Just post your review ON the wso itself and no where else. That's all there is to it. The mods were even kind enough to give this time to give an explanation. Btw, had I not bumped into this thread I wouldn't have known about Pauls' Facebook "pub". Serendipity...
