Do you also feel insecure while using Firefox 3?

I've always preferred FF2 to FF3 and switched to FF3
only a couple of weeks ago.

Almost immediately after that, my computer got infected
with spyware/viruses and my FTP account got hacked.

And the first sign of this was FF3 automatically launching
tabs of cpa affiliate offers and spanish google searches.
I've never had this happen when I was using FF2.

So do any of you also feel unsafe while browsing on FF3?

Is there a bug in the FF3 code that allows hackers to
get into your computers more easily?

I'd love to hear if opinions or also your experiences.

Thanks,

Dean Dhuli.

I just upgraded to it 2 days ago, and unfortunately have a few problems. I've lost my progress bar, which I understand is a known bug, according to their website. I also find it a bit slow, and cannot play movies on certain sites?

I don;t know about bugs that you mention.... I hope there aren't any. :-)

I have some work to do to get this thing right.

I'm a Mac user so I don't deal with any virus plague. My main browser is Safari 4 but I use FF 3 for certain things (mainly downloading web videos via a plug-in, and downloading PDFs that insist on displaying in Safari).

Maybe try Safari for Windows and see how you like it.

I have been using FF3 for months with zero problems. I have it stuffed full of addons and toolbars and it all works. I use Avira Antivirus with Comodo firewall and the NoScript addon and have never been infected, no matter which corners of the web I explore.

The only problem is with Flash, if I watch too many videos it eats up RAM and doesn't give it back, which means exiting and restarting FF. A pain that I hope is fixed in the next release.

    Hi,
Lately I've been using a browser based on what I am doing --all updated to the latest versions. So, Chrome, FF3, IE8, Safari and Opera are running from time to time.

FF has a great bookmarking system that synchronizes often (XMARKS), so that is cool since IE8 and FF share the same bookmarks on a pc that I use.

I think the days of using just one browser are over --especially if you work on several sites. I think all of us need to get used to this simply because the BROWSER is the NEXT OS!

    IMHO,
    Sam

I'm with you on this one Sam. I've also over the last several months been using a combination of IE, Chrome and FF based on the task at hand.

There were a couple of threads about a serious threat going around in the last while and the browser didn't make any difference. I have used ff3 for awhile now, since it came out, and no hacks. I expect it is just a coincidence.

    best wishes

Edit: Here is one of the threads I mentioned. http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...us-threat.html

    Thanks for the feedback everybody.

I've gone back to ff2 after reinstalling xp on laptop
and was confused whether to upgrade to ff3 again or not.
    That's why I asked.

I'll hang on to ff2 for a while and then take a decision.

    Thanks,
    Dean.

Not a problem with me and FF3 ... XP Pro ... I use FF for all my day-to-day activities - including watching videos from netflix and other places.

While it's not a bug per se, I hate that I can't move folders in bookmarks ... they are spread out among "loose" bookmarks and I can't group the folders together. Oh well, no biggy though.
