Hi all, I just joined the forum and hope to have a fun time here. First a little about myself. I just graduated college with a degree in electrical engineering but so far haven't had much luck finding a job(times are rough right now). I am very eager to learn about internet marketing and how to profit from it. I have heard that affiliate marketing is the way to go for newbies but I have a couple of questions. Realistically, how much money can I make doing affiliate marketing? Also, is it true you don't need a website to start? If anyone has experience affiliate marketing and would like to share their experiences, it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Nate |

Nate, As an EE, you should have no trouble setting up a site with Wordpress running, and then exploring many of the ideas presented at the WF. Just learn to search any key word on google by doing a site specific search (advanced search). Then you'll have most of the time multiple answers to your questions. Regardless of where your career takes you, setting up a blog (using a CMS like Wordpress) is a great way to explore online success. I enjoy that very much and plan to add new features like travel video and pics soon for my blog. ONE SIDE BENEFIT of a BLOG: There is one intangible benefit I didn't expect from my blog -- It has kept me engaged. I had some very tough times in 2007, and thru all that time, I kept updating and moving forward. Now I am returning to it to update a lot of posts and just fix broken links. It's nice to go back and see what my thoughts were just a year or two ago as well. It's a journel in part. Stay engaged & success, Sam |

How long is a piece of string? The earnings potential is endless. This is what draws most people to affiliate marketing.

Hey Nate, When I was starting, building a website used to worry me as well. I used to fret about wondering how to fiddle with the html to make my site look just like one I'd just seen. I wouldn't recommend trying to get by without a website. In terms of making a decent income, your best bet is to have your own Internet real estate. And it's really easy, it turns out. As has been said, blogging is a great way for newbies to get into the game. Wordpress is the most popular platform, and there are free tutorials on how to set it up and use it all over youtube and the rest of the internet. The search engines love it, it's very customizable and easy to navigate. I can't believe I didn't discover it sooner. If you want to make a steady income, I suggest you start blogging about your experiences (ie hey, I've just build this blog, this is how I did it, these are my plans etc). Then start building up some traffic. This is a big stumbling block for many newbies. I suggest hitting the forums and blogs, giving value and linking back to your blog. Possibly write some articles and submit to ezinearticles.com. It is important to be perceived as an expert to some degree. Once you've set up a blog, you're a step ahead of thousands of newbies out there. Write an ebook about how you did it, and give it away in return for email address to build a list of prospects. Then you have a ready-made crowd of people all interested in the same thing. Email them, keep giving value, and then start making recommendations (affiliate marketing). If you want to learn more about how to build a list, I'm giving away a free ebook and set of videos on exactly that on my blog. Good luck, Ed |

Thanks so much for everyone's advice so much. I think the best way to go would be to get a website up and running with the help of wordpress. I have some questions about the content of what to put in my articles and blogs. Does the information I write about have to be genuine, meaning I can't copy word for word about something I find on the internet. If I find an ebook online can I re-sell at my own price without the owners knowledge? Can I edit an ebook(add and take out some stuff) and pass it off as my own? |

| No, that's illegal, and no, that's called rehashing information (pretty much plagiarism) and that's frowned upon.

affiliate marketing is definately one of the best place to start. the startup cost is very minimal if any. my suggestion seek advice and firm your direction. this is not a get rich quick program. the return can take awhile before you can see any. most of us quit at the early stage.

Does anybody know what to look for in promoting a product on clickbank. I know gravity is an important one but what gravity is the best. I heard the higher the better because the product is selling reall good right now.
