Advertising: Too much competition

Rather than advertising on huge sites like Google, Facebook, Bing, etc. why not advertise on sites that offer advertising programs AND are related to whatever you're advertising. Then all of the people you're advertising to will actually be interested and will attract more leads. Plus no competition and less money. Will this work for a beginner (me)?

The key to successful advertising is to create an ad that would be the talking point of the town. One of the ways to do this is to associate your brand with something that is currently a hot topic. Associating your brand somehow or the other will create a lot of views and if your ad is good enough may be there will be a lot of inquiries. Google, Facebook provides you with a lot of visitors but you may surely give the second option a try.

try CPV traffic for advertising. at places such as leadimpact and trafficvance, you get really cheap traffic that can be targeted to specific categories and countries, and the best part is you know what you are getting for the money.

On the main advertising networks you get a lot of targeting options, so you can besaically advetise to exactly that prospect that will be interested in your offer.

Whenever you advertise, just make sure you get your targeting right and don't forget to retarget to people who have already shown interest in your offer to increase conversions.

Isn't this the idea of target marketing rather than paying for a hit-n-miss campaign with the search engines?

You can try a mixed approach and still target the demographic(s) you are going after.

      For example:

SEO (target by use of keywords)

SMM (target by networking with others who might be interested in your niche, join related groups, etc.)

There is always going to be competition and advertising in obscure areas may or may not bring the traffic in.
