3 Projects I want to work on this year....how can I be most productive?

I'm just getting back into IM again after a few months off and I'm having a few problems finding the time to multi-task between my full-time job, social life, etc. For those of you who are super productive or balancing work/IM/social lives, how would you approach my situation?

To give you a few more details, I'm looking at getting things going with each of the following business models:

1. Video affiliate marketing - I actually was making about $3k/month with this last summer, but I took some time off after a few videos were deleted. I lost some confidence in the method, so I never got around to building this income stream back up. Things have changed a bit with youtube and google in the past 6 months, so I will need to get back up to speed, but my goal is to get up 3-4 new videos every month until the end of the year. The goal would be to have a few authority channels in a few different niches and to build those accounts out with review vids, informative vids, etc.

2. FB Ads and affiliate marketing - I'm completely new to paid traffic and facebook in particular, but I've managed to convince a successful marketer that I know to coach me on his business model(involves building a website, fanpage, etc). He's doing a solid 5-figures per month, and I'm paying him to teach me his method over a number of sessions. Total outlay will be a little over $1k for coaching by the time I'm through. I like him because he doesn't even offer coaching, since he's too busy with his actual business model. I managed to twist his arm, so I'm his only "student".

3. Niche Websites - I started with this business model I and used to make around $3k-$4k/month with sites a few years back. I was primarily targeting CPA offers and it was working out nicely for me until Google had all the updates. I was even on the verge of selling a site for $19k when I got slapped the day of the money transfer. That's about the time I started getting into video marketing, and I just hadn't got around to putting up more sites. I'll still have a learning curve with this since I've been on the sidelines the longest, but have a goal to build out 3-5 high-value content sites by the end of the year.

So that's basically what I have on my plate at the moment. I have about 3hrs of productive time per night after I come home for work. For your productivity gurus, how would you approach getting things done in the most efficient manner? Thanks or any input.

I guess my first question is, since your time is already very limited, why are you committing to all three of these at once? One of the three you are just learning, the other two you are just getting back into. Get back into one first until it's become habit. Then & only then should you add another. You're trying to do too many things at once, and to do too many things at once is to do none of them very effectively.

Focus on only 1 business model at a time.

You'll get a helluva lot more out of it and speed up the learning process...

Simply because you won't be distracted by the shininess of the others

I guess part of me feels that I will have lost time on the other models if I don't at least get them started. I'm talking in terms of when I look back on things 6 months from now. Thought maybe it would be better to set more goals.

Yeah, that makes sense. Was just having a hard time choosing which one to focus on. I'll focus on the one where I'm being coached for now. I see it as having the most potential and quickest to get rolling.

If I have 3hrs per night. How can I organize myself so that I'm using that time most effectively? I'm trying to get focused, but I still find myself doing alot of reading and not as many action steps. Guess that's how I ended up on this forum

I would suggest you look into practicing MEDITATION to skyrocket your focusing skills. If you use the Internet a lot, you, like many of us, have developed ADHD-like information overload coping mechanisms. This is great for scanning lots of info but this isn't good for starting and completing projects. If you need help getting FOCUSED, just hit me up for free advice.

Are you talking about quiet time and deep breathing exercises? Maybe affirmations as well?

Set clear, concise, reachable goals for each day/week/month. State what you want to accomplish, then go do it! Also, focus on one at a time so you don't 'bounce around' and remain focused.

  • What works for me is to have a task list for the day, organize it according to level of priority, and make it my daily goal to finish all those tasks for the day. I make sure to finish the most important tasks first so even if I don't complete my list, I'd still be able to get most of the stuff I need to do that day off my plate.

I'm no expert at this but one thing I find helpful is to identify first the foundation or the CORE activities of your business before you set a time for each task.

Sometimes, no matter how much you manage your time and tasks, there are just some things that you might include on your schedule that doesn't bring anything much into your business.

Let's take your niche website business as an example...

If I was building a niche website, my CORE duties would be:

    1. Content creation
    2. On page SEO
    3. Off page SEO
    4. and Driving traffic

For the three hours that you have, divide it into this four task equally. So to put it into action, for the first 45 min I'm just going to churn out content and nothing else.

Just write as much as you can without giving any thought to on page seo (keywords/LSI). It doesn't also matter if you already finished the article...if you did finish before the 45 min mark, then write another one until you exhaust all 45.

Then on the next 45, optimize your on page seo for keywords, title, meta tags, and the like. You don't worry about putting links yet just optimize the hell out of your content for the next 45 min.

Once done, you can now do the off page optimization. Your backlinking, submitting articles for guest post, commenting, and others should also have a a separate time of their own.

And on the last part of the hour, you can now concentrate on driving traffic to your site and this might include social media.

I know I pretty much rambled some ideas there and yeah I could've just said to focus on the core activities of your business but I don't know of a way to explain it more vividly. lol!

Your list seems a bit too much for someone who has a full time job and already doesn't have enough time. You may have to outsource some of the tasks you have planned.
