Can I use an article from Ezine Articles as content to give away?

Can I repurpose an article from Ezine Articles into a short free PDF report to give away if I give the author credit .... or is that not allowed? Thanks for any help on this.

You're referring to a derivative work?

Even if that's allowed, you'll have to contact the individual authors and you're not even sure if all of them will reply and acknowledge your request.

Instead of doing that, why not just write the e-report yourself or hire a writer? At least, you can make a claim that that e-report is 100% yours. Do you have contacts with writers?

Just curious... Why would anyone want a free report on something they can simply find elsewhere for free?

Here are the Publisher Terms of Service from EzineArticles: Terms of Service For Publishers Who Wish To Reprint Any Content From EzineArticles.com

    You can't repurpose articles.

I think deejay is right. Write a new report yourself or hire someone to do it for you. Or maybe instead of just an article, create something a little more creative and useful like a checklist, blueprint, FAQ sheet.

    Good luck!

      Billy,

      Think this through.

What benefit is there to your business in giving something away that is not from your business?

If you can't write, find someone who can. The idea is to build up your own business with great targeted niche content.

Re-hashed material is not what your audience wants to read.

Here's an easy way to build a list using an ezine article as a giveaway:

-Publish said article on your own blog (follow the EzineArticles TOS)
-Set up a lead capture page and use said article as a giveaway. Sprinkle in a few bullet points to create curiosity about said article. Sell them on the benefits of reading said article,etc...
-The "thank you" page is the URL that goes to said article on your blog

There you go, the author on EzineArticles.com gets some exposure and you get the lead. Oh yah, I believe this doesn't violate any rules. If so,correct me.

It's like owning a McDonalds franchise but borrowing some of the Hungry Jacks burgers and pretending they're yours. Why on earth would you do it?
Build YOUR reputation. Hire a writer if necessary and there are plenty of us in the Warriors for Hire Section who may be able to help you.

      No.

No "repurposing": this is made very clear in their terms of use.

You can republish and circulate articles from Ezine Articles (and of course that's what they're there for), but can never re-write/repurpose/edit/amend/abbreviate them. You need to take the whole article, including the author's resource-box, and publish it exactly as it is. (This will also be part of the terms of service of every other article directory, I would think. )

I can add no more to what Steve and Laurence wisely mentioned (#5 and #7 above).
