What should I NOT do?

Hello Warriors!

I'm launching an Amazon affiliate site pretty soon, but I need to know what kind of things that I should be cautious about, I don't want to put all the work and then the site gets suspended for something I overlooked.

So please help me out by listing things I should watchout for legally, or in the eyes of Amazon, google, facebook and pinterest and other social media

I think you should be more concerned about what you SHOULD do (positives) than what you SHOULDN'T (negatives) when starting out. Just my two cents, good luck to you!

Don't violate their terms of service.

I've heard of Amazon affiliates get in hot water for the following:

    1) Tampering with Affiliate Links
    2) Failing to have a Privacy Policy

I've also heard that their banning policy is draconian in nature.

Luckily I've never determined the truth of that rumor.

    1. Don't rely on an Amazon "review site" to make enough sales, without list-building, to earn its keep and reward your efforts

    2. Don't depend on SEO traffic: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8659398

And yes, there are other obvious things (including "legal" and "regulatory" stuff), such as being aware of and complying with Amazon's terms of service, and so on, too. But if you want to make money, you need to study the three things above pretty carefully and make quite sure that the "action" you take comes after getting yourself oriented and educated and facing in the right direction before you set off on any journey. If you're not setting off in the right direction, then it doesn't matter how much action you take.

    Good luck!

Yep, don't worry about the hundreds of things you shouldnt do, and concentrate on the ONE thing you need to do. Get targetted traffic.

Of course, to do that ONE thing, you may need to do 5 or six things to achieve it, but at the end of the day, it comes down to eyeballs.

You should not do 'nothing'. Thats the biggest killer in this business and probably causes more failure than anything else.

Oh and just a FYI, Amazon commissions are low. You should not launch one affiliate site. You should launch 50 of them (each in a specific niche)

Unless you become an authority of a certain niche, the numbers will add up.
Having 50 different websites will just add more work and is not worth it.

Focus on one and make it the best.

Try not to limit yourself to a site that cannot be expanded if it takes off.

So don't make it all about one very specific product as those tend to be difficult to get traffic to other than SEO (which is unpredictable and not guaranteed) and limited in how you can grow them.

And remember affiliate sites work when they provide value. It's NOT just about forcing people down an affiliate link.

You have to give them something above and beyond what they can find at the end retailer - in-depth and unbiased reviews, price comparisons, discount coupons, additional content, user guides and so on.
