Don't pretend you didn't screw up

One thing I hate are business people that won't admit they made a mistake. Example:

I ordered a banner created and two weeks later I had not heard anything. I contacted them and asked what their usual turn around time is and included by order and payment details. I got a message back " Your order is in process, we usually fill orders within 48 hours. It will be done soon.. "

Admit it, you messed up and lost my order or I would have had it last week.

    I know exactly what you mean. People screw up, it happens, and I have a lot more respect for people who just admit it instead of making lame excuses.

    My friend does banners and I believe her turn around is 72 hours. I know for a fact sometimes she gets bombarded with orders and she will email each customer as the order comes in to let them know processing is a bit slower than usual and offers a refund of their money if they need their order quicker than she can create it. Why is that such a hard task? I agree. Admit you are behind or stuck or too lazy this week and let the person know!

    It's human nature. They try to hide themselves and run away from the fact that they committed a mistake, forgot something or anything as such.

    Similar to Rich, I've got more respect for those who have the guts to admit something went wrong.

    I hate when article writers do that. I tell them to adhere to EZA guidelines (1% keyword density) and when i get the articles they come with keyword densities up to 5% making them useless to me :\

      I've learned it's best to be very clear with the instructions to writers. Tell them to use the keyword one time in first paragraph, once in body of article and once in last paragraph. Sometimes it helps to give LSA examples such as telling them an article for "dog training" should use the phrase 3 times and other references may be to pup, canine, pooch, best friend, pet, etc.

      Many advertising as "writers" have no idea what keyword density is. Also, many of them aren't familiar with EZA guidelines. But sometimes if you give very specific instructions - and they can write well - it's all good.

    That is why it is my #1 policy to be honest, I took on an order for a good client after I was released from the Emergency Room, being deathly ill and delusional, I quoted him an impossible time frame at least impossible with me being sick like that. I owed up to my error and explained the situation, needless to say he was understanding and hopefully I'll have the order done within the new time frame we set or at least close to it.
