Hello Everybody
So here it goes, Im just starting out on here. I bought a domain on bluehost about 3 or 4 months ago and finally have decided to get up and do some work on it. Ive read through these forums a few times looking for help and decided to join today. About a week ago I added 2 articles and formatted the site. Its more or less a self improvement website and I was planning on writing articles on exercise, different books, health etc. and linking to affiliate offers. After doing some research it looks like Id need to hand write 50 articles to get any decent traffic or sales(so far Ive gotten 100 visitors and only have amazon links). I just installed Yoast SEO but dont know how to use it yet. I also have a newsletter sign up but havent had anyone join. I guess what Im asking is should I change the format of the site, and how do I go about getting the crazy traffic I see people have. I was thinking of changing the homepage to a squeeze page, followed by an offer to help build a list? Feeling a little stuck any advice would be great! thanks!

You need to think if you need it the website to create a list, because if a costumer buy something in your website and then leave you can't follow him up. As you can see websites are made in one single goal to have an opt-in (giving their email to you). Once you have their email you can make sales much better and automatically. 1 problem in websites is you need time in producing quality content, SEO, etc...but if your are good in writing in a particular niche or you can outsource your content then no problem.

Making sales on your website happens rarely. Just as Benung said, the aim of creating a website is to get people's e-mail, that's what you should aim at. You can do so by adding an opt-in form under any of your posts. One thing, do more research on your niche. That will help you write fresh content which is essential for SEO and visitor's trust in you. For the SEO plugin, google SEO By Yoast and you'll find it's definitive guide. Also there are some articles about it in WPBeginner. About the 50 posts, I think it's a lie. 10 posts are enough. Hope this helps.

    Good luck.

Here is a list for you to follow. Maybe not completely, but the general idea is there.
You are probably at Part 3 right now.

What I would do is create a working SYSTEM before you drive traffic.

    Part 1: Brainstorming
    Choose a niche
    Think of a name
    Check Availability
    Brand Colours
    Logo Design

    Part 2: Setting Up
    Buy a Domain
    Get a Web Host
    Installing Wordpress
    Setting Up Wordpress
    Installing Plugins

    Part 3: Getting Leads
    Join Aweber
    Create Email List
    Create a Form
    Landing Page
    A/B Testing
    Setup Autoresponder

    Part 4: Affiliate Programs
    Choosing your favourite
    Tracking Your Link
    High Tier Programs

    Part 5: Copywriting
    Finding article ideas
    Writing good headlines
    scheduling articles

    Part 6: Driving traffic
    Social Media
    Guest Posting
    Q&A Sites
    Create Tutorials

Excellent advice here! It is important to have a plan and complete step 1 before jumping ahead to step 2 and 3. Everything you do is a building block so whatever step you are on, put 100% focus into that.

Use social media. Piggyback on the influence of influence leaders in your niche.

Use one of the opt-in addons, or find one of the squeeze page creator websites out there, or just search for some opt-in code that u can install on ur own.

If you want to get visitors, study how to do proper SEO techniques. It is not only good for you site but it will keep it safe from the google animals like penguin and panda that will derank your site.

You should learn On page SEO which is to optimize your blog posts from headings, underlines, tags etc that makes the google robot pay attention to your site.

The best tools I use is called SEO pressor for this and its free but your can get the premium too if you wish.

Then you need Off page SEO which is creating backlinks to your site. But before you do this you need to understand that just creating backlinks towards your site is like sleeping around in a groupie party and you will catch a disease that will harm your site forever.

You also beed to understand that not a backlinks are created equal. This is where higher ranking sites or authority sites backlinking to your site will help increase your position on search engines. You need to create a buffer around your site to protect it from getting pimp slapped by google animals.

So lesser value backlinks comments on forums and such needs to be backlinked not directly to your site but towards web 2.0 site like blogger for example. Now create a link from that blogger blogsite you have and create another backlink pointing towards your site this time. This is ok now because if web 2.0 sites get slapped by the google panda or penguin, your site still protected.
You can create a bunch of backlinks pointing towards your web 2.0 instead of your site and raise its authority online.
The web 2.0 blogger's higher authority now that is pointing to your site will then make your site rank higher.
    This is called pyramid backlinking.

You could also go blackhat and use service like linkemperor to this work for you and expect to have your posts rank on top of search engines in a couple of months or sooner.

Hope this clears how to rank and profit your posts since marketing is the fun part

100% go with squeeze page. You don't have to make it your homepage, but you should send most (if not all) your traffic to your squeeze page because the only asset you will have is a list.

It's like beating a dead horse talking about list building on here. "The money is in the list"

It's true though: the money really is in the list.

Offer visitors some kind of incentive to join your newsletter, not just a "subscribe" button. Give them some kind of bribe and start building your list. Then you can create follow up campaigns that do the selling and build a relationship for you. Hope this helps

I personally like how he is currently selling this on flippa.

Seems like he is just inflating his visitor count so he can sell it for a quick buck.

  • To get traffic you can use 2 things
    1. Time (Blog commenting) (Guest posts) ETC
    2. Money (Facebook, google, bing ads) ETC

So I personally use both. More Money however I put in time too.

    So, next step is TRAFFIC.

I think you should have definitely optin form on your website. You should start building list from day one. You can get visitors from facebook and youtube but video making is bit long process.

I think there are good quality plr in self improvement niche. There is a fiverr gig for high quality 37 self developement ebooks with plr. I would highly recommend that. You should focus more time on marketing.
