Is outsourcing articles really a good idea? Can a ghostwriter really convey the same message that a site owner would if he wrote the articles himself? So many samples I see are obviously rushed and generic and I have to wonder if articles like that don't do more harm than good. Or doesn't it really matter as long as it is more or less coherent and has an info box?

Also - What format should the articles be in? HTML or plain text or ???

Thanks,

Rich

Answer is yes, and it depends on your purpose. If your purpose is article marketing, as long as the guy doesn't blatantly rip it off of other sites, works fairly well. If you want to sound like you know what you are talking about/build a reputation, then you should look for someone good.

It really depends upon what topic the article is about and what you as a site owner wants to do with them.

If the topic is general, then a lot of different people could probably write about it. But your right, if you know more then most people about the subject, then it might be better to write them yourself.

However, there are as many bad writers as there are excellent ones... you just have to find the good ones that will do research before hand.

If you are just in it for SEO purposes, then the article doesn't really have to make sense... but any visitor that you do receive will exit your site pretty quickly.

Also... if you don't have much time on your hands to write articles, then paying someone might be the only way to go.

In terms of what format the article should be in... that depends on what you plan to do with it. If you are using the articles in ebooks or emails, then an HTML version might not be necessary.

    Hope that helps,

Yeah thanks that helped a lot.

Initially I'm going to just have them submitted to article sites, later on I'll recycle them somehow.

Hi I am new to the forum.

I wish to outsource page content simply for SEO purposes. I have been directed to Warrior for good value page content outsourcing (around $3-4 per page).

My question is how do I initiate this within the forum?

Hit me back with suggestions or links.

The key to outsourcing is finding a good writer, since article writing pays so poorly these days, a lot of writers tend to be based in asia and many do not use english as their first language. Which sometimes results in poor quality articles.

The trick is to keep looking and hiring until you find a writer you really like and then use them exclsuively.

That's what i did and i now use a writer based here in the UK who is absolutely fantastic, i don't know what i would do with out her!

Often the rushed and badly written articles are from either affiliates or a site owner that just isn't any good or interested in article writing. It's often BETTER to outsource the article writing. Just because someone else is doing it, it doesn't mean they will be worse. Obviously you just need to find a good ghost writer and instruct them well.

I would much rather pay for someone to write articles (if I'm not the expert), a.) the articles would be better than what I could produce. And b.) I'd save a TON of time.

I would advise anyone to outsource if they find article writing hard. Just make sure you hire a good writer and instruct them well.

    Rich,
Outsourcing article writing is indeed a great idea. However, your concern is very genuine. If you communicate with your article writer clearly and give him/her your exact requirements, then it's not difficult for an expert article writer to create articles customized to your specific requirements.
While the experience and knowledge of the article writers determine the quality of the outsourced articles, I would say the involvement of the clients too play a big role in the success of an article writing project.

    Hope that helps

Outsourcing is not as easy as it seems,I have lost some money to some freelancers refused to do my job and yet refused to refund my money

ive used elance a few times in the past, with mixed results. 2 of my projects were excellently written and put together, but a few others were appalling, and far from what i had had in mind. One tip i use is when i want some work done, i do a small video of myself first and put it a dedicated page on my website, then give the link to the writer. just a short video where i am able to explain exactly what i want and how i want it written, what style etc. I think that when the writer can actually see you exaplaining how you need your work done, they can get a much better feel of how to write the piece themselves. And you get a much more ffective way of putting your requirements across.

i think a lot of freelance ghostwriter work comes back poor simply because the writer and the buyer (i.e. you) just have a different idea of how the finished piece should look and feel - this often is due to a lack of clear communication between the two parties. try using a short video on your site for prospective freelancers to look at, or try maybe speaking to them on the phone. Simply using the typed word is what can lead to confusion and, ultimately, work which you will not find acceptable.

just to add, not sure how other people outsource but using elance allows you to hold money in escrow until the work is adequately finished, so its a pretty safe system.

There are article writers out there that can research information and type a darn good article in minutes about a niche they know nothing about. Outsourcing, imo, is usefull because article marketing and posts can be time consuming, by cutting out the time you spend writing articles you have tons of time to do other SEO methods or create new websites.

    Hey Rich,

Great quality original content is all about research. Make sure you find a writer who can research a niche thoroughly and be sure to tell them exactly what you want from them.

In terms of format, most writers will send your work in .doc or .txt format.

There are a tone of great ghostwriters here at the WF. I'd suggest checking out the WSO forum and the Warriors for hire section.

    I hope this helps.
