How can I promote my site?

Hey guys,

Ive been working on a website for ages now and apart from couple of things on there, its pretty much completed.

My website is a video sharing website built for artists or any creative person that has a show reel. For instance, if you are an animator or director and would like to share your film to the world my website offers this services.

I have just offically launched it today and I need some feedbacks and some advice how I can promote it?

Any ideas would be great thank you!

    I would think that, in addition to the standard SEO and Social Media marketing, you could market it in person at trade shows, etc. Maybe you could try to get yourself invited to speak on some panels!

    Also, don't forget forums.

    Traffic to your site? your at the right place.. I would start by doing some simple things by making it SEO friendldy and putting your title tags and meta tags discription keyword driven and then go over the keyword density on your first page!! after that run it through Internet buisness Promoter.. it will give you the update you need..

      It's just from my mind, maybe I'm wrong:

      - Choose domain similar with your main keyword
      - Optimize your website's meta tags (seo optimization)
      - Create google sitemap
      - Get high pr backlinks as much as possible
      - If possible.. update your website's content with newly .. hot.. benefit or quality content regularly.. except if
      - If your site is blog... make sure to reach 500 original posting, so better if you mastering in your website's topic.
      - and still another way off course (..etc.)

      Even if you are not active to promote, your site will has significant traffic.

      - social bookmarking
      - pinging
      - join big and relevant forum
      - article marketing
      - joint venture
      - big and famous traffic exchange (trafficswarm, dragonsurf, etc.)
      - viral marketing (report giveaway, video, funny picture, etc.)
      - Join website that offer free viral traffic system (Free viral, trafficsword, trafficdigger, etc.)
      - trusted safelist (make sure you use your secondary mail to join)
      (listjoe, elitesafelist, etc.)
      - and etc...

    I'd say for a new site/concept like this, don't forget to distribute a press release or two announcing your venture.

    the above posts have covered a lot of traffic methods, but one i'd like to add is the good ol' tell a friend script. If your site is good and people like what they see ask them to recommend it to a friend. you can get a good script by googling "free tell a friend script". usually it is just a small piece of code to put into your site. give them an incentive to tell their friends too, like a free gift (video how to? report? etc)
