Amazon associate account accepted in the UK and rejected in the US...confused...please help

Hello fellow warriors,

I applied for the Amazon associate program and it was the identical application for both programs (the US and the UK). With the Amazon associate program you need to apply separately for the US and UK associate program.

So the exact same application was accepted by the UK program and rejected by the US one.

And this is the reasons of the rejection:

- Lack of content which is original and beneficial to your visitors
- Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed websites containing mostly images, videos, or Flash animations will not be approved

However, I used the EXACT same website URL to apply for the UK program which was accepted.

Should I write to them and ask them that they approved my UK one and rejected my US? Do you think they will accept my US one as well? Or is that not a good idea?

I am very keen to get accepted to the program as I have a high traffic site that will monetize well with Amazon's associate program.

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

They're two different companies, Mark. (That's why you have to apply to each, separately).

These decisions are inevitably judgement-calls and a little subjective. It's by no means unheard of for Amazon in one country to accept a site, and in another country to decline it.

You'd be much better off just putting some more original, beneficial content on the site and re-applying, rather than pointing out to them their inconsistency between different countries. Each is allowed to make whatever decisions they please.

    Good luck!

This just comes down to the fact that you've got two different moderators assessing your application and making a human judgement call on your site.

Add some more content to your site and re-apply to the US scheme.

    Hope this helps.

I had a similar experience,so I created a second website aimed specifically at the US. With the US programme, if you don't make any sales within your first 90 days you also get rejected.

  • Thanks for the feedback very helpful! Does anyone know if you masked a domain with forwarding to a content-rich blog (instead of having to create one from scratch or make a crappy one with spinned and PLR articles)...one that is clearly not an amazon associate.... if that would pass as approval?

The UK amazon site capps commissions at £7. I sold a £300 product and made just 2% as a result of this cap.

If I sold it on the amazon.com site I would have made £21 grrr!

      Mark,

I would just bite the bullet and do as they ask. Get some unique content related to your site. It's certainly not going to hurt you to do that. Don't try to game the system with re-directs as they will see right through that ploy.

On easy way to get your content is to find an ebook on the subject of your site. Then go through it and write a post summarizing each chapter or section. It will be relevant and unique and give you the content you need if you can't come up with some article ideas.

      The best to you,

      Steve
