Struggling as a newbie, having information overload. Spent money on WSOs. Haven't made a dime. Help!

I'm reading thread after thread. Post after after post. And there seems to be sooooooo many different ways to make money. I don't know what route to take. Some seem very complicated to me and I'm not understanding the steps. Others seem easier for a newbie like me. But I don't know where to start. I bought 2 WSOs so far and each we're confusing. Had words and phrases I've seen before. It was a waste of money. I'm starting to feel lame like I should have something implemented by now. I even signed up to thr war room. Still haven't found a good guide.

You're a War Room member. Spend a month or so going through all the great, free material there, especially Allen Says stuff. It's been out for a while but most of it's still relevant.

Then decide what you want to do. Do a search for Internet Marketing acronyms. There are free short reports that will help you. Don't feel bad about not knowing that stuff. No one knows it all.

In essence, I'm suggesting you slow down and get a feel for what you want to do. Most newbies don't believe this but you don't have to buy dozens of WSOs or videos or ebooks or anything else. Just about everything you need can be had for free. Again, take advanage of all the great stuff in the War Room. Then figure out what you want to try and study free material that will get you there step by step. Good luck.

This is such a great point. There is so much free information out there, here on the Warrior Forum and in so many other places as well. There are also many, many free ways to make money online as well.

How to stop information overload? Pick one method, and focus only on that! I recommend you get good at list building and email marketing. Ignore every other method or strategy and just focus on getting good at that.

Take it one step at a time:

*Sign up to Getresponse or Aweber
*Pick a niche or topic to make your list about
*Make a squeeze page where you offer a free gift
*Get subscribers by offering value to people. I like forum marketing
*Mail out cool content to your list, and occassionally pitch.

Thats the "email marketing formula" in a nutshell. Its a little more complicated than that and there are many ways to go about it, but that should give you a great start!

Edwin Torres is right just pick one method and be the best out there by creating value and you will be fine after it.

Great advice! I agree... it is so easy to lose focus even if you are not a newbie. Find a list building strategy that resonates with you and stick with that one (or two) strategy until you master it. I would not try to implement more than 2 strategies at once.

Also, be patient. Success does not happen overnight. Set up your daily operations and stick to it. Be consistent. In time, you will be successful

Exactly. Just choose one method and stick to it.

Oftentimes, people get to one thing, buy another WSO, fail, and continue the process until they have bought thousands and thousands of dollars worth of WSOs. Stick to one thing, or even better,

Go to some of the WSOs you have bought and see which one you want to start doing and may want to implement. Just do it and get started.

What you are experiencing is quite normal so no need to feel
like there is something wrong with you. We've all been there
when starting out, even though is it now 'worst' than 10 years
ago when there was less to choose from.

Sadly, nobody can chose for you and so you have to decide
what method and market you want to specialize in. Just
don't give up too quickly and expect miracles. Success is
hard work no matter where you find it.

There's definitely way too much information out there. So don't try to analyze it all. First, sleep on what you like doing. Get this very clear in your mind first. You already know that there are millions of ideas out there so go through some and focus on one that you think fits your personality and interests. You may have to go through several things first so you learn what you don't like too, but that's normal. You may not know exactly what you want to do yet but that's OK. That's why I said to sleep on what you think you want to do right now. You could start a blog about some topic you like to write about and build a list that way. What were the subjects of the WSOs you bought? Maybe you have a genuine interest there but those particular WSO products didn't help you. Perhaps you should explore what lead you to buy them in the first place? Either way, you're going to have to do some research and be open, and willing to learn, then pick something you like and focus on that. Feel free to change directions if you have to but don't get caught up in doing several things at the same time and buying tons of WSOs.

Focus on one thing at one time.
Pick up something you feel interest in it.
Prepare a plan for it and work hard on it until you achieve your goals.
As travelinguy suggested there are tons of stuff in warroom, you will for sure find lots of valuable information there which will help you to decide what to pick and implement.
    Good Luck

Have you tried reaching out to the product creators for help?

I know, not many people care about the customer after they've purchased the product, but some do.

I agree - information overload is completely normal, and entirely expected.

The best thing you can do for yourself is think about how YOU envision your online business to look (in your ideal world, based on your interests, skills, time, circumstances) and start from there.

    Hey mate,
In all honesty the best thing you can do for yourself is to do what the guys above posted (which is all excellent advice) but while you are doing all of that, stay off the forum! Then once you have your direction sorted, stay focused and then look for threads related to your chosen direction.

    All the best,

    1. Stop buying crap.

    2. Pick one thing you know you really want to learn and excel at.

    3. Stick with it.

    4. Fail a lot

    5. Fail some more.

    6. Keep at it and don't give up, even if you feel like its going no where.

Analyze the data you get and look for patterns. Why were things failing? What were you doing the same in each thing you did and, now, how can you change that?

Success doesn't happen overnight. It'll take time and effort and smart work, but if you stick to one thing you are 100x more likely to get something to work rather than jumping to 100 different things.

      Hi Jclee4

We all understand your frustration. It happens with almost
everybody starting out, and believe me, even the more experienced
marketers encounter the same problem once they direct to new methods/areas
      which are new to them.

Also keep in mind that allot of WSO's is based on strategies and methods for
more experienced marketers where it may be confusing for newcomers as it is
a few steps ahead of the basic fundamentals.

Just remember, it all comes down to one thing.

      Product/Service + Targeted Traffic = Income

I'll suggest you right down at least 3 niches you would like to get into,

Then, do research to see how these niches are monetized, physical products,
      information products, services....

You'll discover this by searching for your niche in eCommerce sites(Amazon, eBay, etc)
for physical products, then affiliate sites(Clickbank,Commission Junction, etc.) for
      information products.

Get a understanding of what is sold in your niche. If you do not have skills/inventory
to sell information or physical products, become a affiliate.

Drive traffic by means of forum posting, free FB ads in targeted groups, Yahoo answered
etc. (If you're unfamiliar with paid traffic) TO YOUR squeeze page first to build your list.

Here's a link which explains definitions and meanings of acronyms and terminology commonly used in digital marketing :

Most Common Internet Marketing Terms, Acronyms & Definitions | Sole Position Internet Marketingâ„¢ call:503.766.4301

One problem One solution. Write down what you are finding hard to do/understand, tackle it, ask questions, search, master it, if you cant, outsource it and progress to the next step. When you succeed in these difficulties, you have the power to teach other people by means of your own product. Learn, Apply, Teach.

Good luck man, I wish you bucket loads of success and knowledge. Feel free to PM me if you need any assistance.

I am like you before man. And everyone does.

I'll tell you the simple way. Stop buying WSO's, keep some money you have. Use your money for advertisement. Use facebook, create one fanpage, (make wide niche that people like to "like and share") example (cats, dogs, humor)

put some image, put timeline (can search google) promote it using facebook ads to generate like. post 2-3 post per day, once your fanpage have 1000 like, create another page, and let your first fanpage to build and grow your 2nd page, 3rd page, 4th page, and so on.

post youtube link, post blog link
after you fanpage growth maybe 2-3k like, promote 1 affiliate link per (2-3 days) keep engaging. by focusing on this, in 2-3 months, your fanpage will growth (means lot of traffic) and start monetizing. :-)

Once you make money, create your own wso (how i make money with facebook).
    Bamm.. you are winner. ^_^

      Hi Johanne,

There are many people who make a full time salary here from IM. I still have a full time job but I believe I am on my way. I use my job's income to fund my advertising expenses for my online endeavors. The key is finding something to focus on that you like and stay the course. After many years online with money made and lost, I learned that the hard way. But someone said above, "Fail, and fail some more". I truly believe that and all my failures put me on the right road until I get to where I want to be. Finding a mentor who is doing what you want to do will help you too.

Yes i can assure you that it's possible to make a full time income online.

If i can give you one tip on what to look for when getting started, it's to start building an email list before doing anything else. If only i knew that when i got started i would have reached my goals way faster.

Start by learning how to set everything up, once you have the setup ready, start learning on how to drive traffic to your landing page, and after that, learn how to build a realtionship with your list so you can make sales.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Regarding the list, I found a list of some 500 emails that I built from our offline business. Can I use that list to start and promote affiliate products? Or maybe sell solo ads? With my email contacts and list I probably have 3000 emails that I can start to work with. What do you suggest?

It's all too easy to get caught up in all the WSOs and guides and video tutorials revealing the latest and greatest way to make money online when the reality is the tried and true methods are the ones that tend to work best. Choose a method, read up on it a bit and get to work learning what does and doesn't work yourself.

Stick around a while and you'll see a lot of money making fads come and go, but the tried and true methods like affiliate marketing, e-mail marketing and creating and selling products all still work and there are a significant number of people making a full-time living off of them. To be fair, there are also a lot of people who try and fail, so no method of making money online is a sure thing.

There is real money to be made online. I make real money every day. There are others here who make a lot more than I do. It isn't an easy road for most, but there are most definitely people who make a full time living doing it.

Ask yourself, what I am passionate about?

Which things you can do 12 - 18 hours a day without feeling tired or frustrated.

Find out which makes you feel happy and satisfied.

    Go for that thing.

Just making money is nothing until you feel satisfied with the work you are doing.

If you are reading this forum that means may be you like spending time on internet, is it true?

If yes, find which things interest you?

Are you a creative person may be a designer or writer?

Are you able to find solutions to complex problems hmm may be a programmer?

Do you have bunch of idea in mind.... how about an entrepreneur?

Find out which things interest you most.

Do some research on it... spend hours... lets see if this make you feel frustrated or are you enjoying that you are learning new things.

    Spend more time on it.

Check our products and services others are offering.

Have your own website. If you do not know how to make a site... outsource it.

Join some relevant affiliate programs and promote them on website.

If you face difficult Google it, learn it and then implement it.

It takes time but I noticed that most of my clients who follow this were able to stand up on their feet within 6 months.... do not forgot what i said earlier... 12 - 18 hours a day without feeling tired or frustrated.

Hi, when you start reading a lot of wso´s you get persuaded to buy because everybody promises that you will get rich with their method. They are the ones that are getting rich of you. Sure there are good wso´s out there but as others have said you can get all the information you need to start earning money for free. If you have not started a list, do that asap and start learning everything about this. This is where the money is.

All the information you need to get started is here at the Warrior Forum. Spend a few days perusing the many posts by people new to the world of making money online. You'll begin to see certain techniques that are mentioned time and time again in post after post when someone asks the best ways to make money online. These are your best bets. Choose one that piques your interest and get started.

Learn the method you choose inside and out and eventually you'll start making money, but you've got to be willing to face some failure on the road to success. Rare is the internet marketer who strikes gold on their first foray into IM. There are usually bumps in the road, some small and some rather large, but stick with it and you'll eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A lot of rookies make the mistake of coming in thinking they're going to strike it rich right away. Do that and you're probably in for a lot of disappointment and a very short IM career.

To add to everything that has been said earlier - take notes.

Believe me, it helps. Take notes when you watch tutorials, when you read ebooks, when you learn a new software, and so on.

Make lists, too! Lists of terms you don't quite understand, lists of possible ideas that you learn or that come to mind (business models/niches/products/etc). You never know when inspiration hits you!

Update everything from time to time. This will help you be organized and, as a result, focused. Focus will play a HUGE part in your success.

      Best of luck!

    hello fren,
The only way to make money is to build a list. Your main concern should be to build a list and promote other people's offers and make commissions from it.
I have been through the same road, but after knowing how to build list things are starting to make sense now.
Just look at all the big internet marketers. They all got one thing in common and that is they have a huge list.
    hope that helps.

    I really feel for you.

When I first started reading I was so overwhelmed and confused after a few days, that I dropped it completely. Only to come back to it a few month later. Thats when I started more seriously.

Take it slow, dont be Intiminated by all the information. Focus on ONE thing first. keep reading. When you realise you read to much, sleep a night over it.

    Most importantly:
Stop focusing on finding the right "Program" oir WSO, and start focusing on the methods they use. Its maybe so overwhelming because there are SO MANY programs out there, but at one point you will realize most of them DO THE EXACT SAME THING.
So my advice, focus on the methods, drop the products.

Another tipp if you are confused. I guess its all the PPC and PPV and SOLOADS and whatnot,(was confusing for me at first). These are all just methods to get traffic (visitors) to your blog/salespage/whatever. In the end you use your traffic to sell affiliate products. So first, learn what affiliate marketing is (its simple), then learn how to get traffic later.

Without basic understandings of Affiliate, getting traffic, salespages, Lists, etc. you will not make any use of any of these products and WSOs.

I genuily hope you dont lose patience, and stay on it.

    All the best

It is really hard to know what to do in the beginning. Lots of things have their own appeal and depending on the type of person you are will determine your tolerance to risk & reward.

The thing that helped me get started was really focusing on what sort of work suited both my personality and skill set. I found that there was little point in looking at ways of making money that required a complete re - learning for me.

I worked out that I like helping people and that I am happy to share knowledge and feel a sense of satisfaction if it helps someone out.

I then worked out that I am never away from my computer so it wold suite me to be working on something that had no fixed hours of work.

Picking an area to focus on is usually easier if you have some knowledge or a burning interest to become knowledgeable in that area.

If you shortlist 2 or 3 areas that you are interested in you can then look around and see if there is a big enough need or market for your area of interest.

If you are starting up without funds, stick to your chosen area and read and learn what you can before investing.

If you have funds to move forward, there is always the option of investing in a coach. A coach can help you shortcut some of the pitfalls that are out there.

Use the warrior forum!! there are some great warriors on here who will be happy to help you so don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Lastly, Never give up!

    Good luck with everything.

    Mike

If you have the money for it, invest in coaching. Try to find out which coaches are out there, what their methods are and decide for yourself:
    - do I like this person? Could I work with him/her?
    - do I like this method? Could I do this for years to make an income?

If not, go for a proven method, like list building.

    Then write down for yourself:
    - the end goal, this should be very specific, describing the method you want to use (so, not just: make $10,000/mo, but: have a list of subscribers to which I send emails daily selling my own and/or affiliate offers that makes me $10,000/mo)
    - the steps you foresee you will have to take now (if you get stuck here, read targeted information on exactly what you want to know, don't get distracted by irrelevant information)

Then go through these steps one by one. Once you get stuck somewhere, again: gather targeted information just to get you moving on with that specific thing.

Always work toward the end goal you defined.
