What's the best platform to sell music tracks?

INTERNET MARKETING

Ok, a friend put out a track for charity, put it on amazon and bandcamp. He is getting almost nothing in commissions. I suggested he sell direct, but he asked me for numbers to back it up.
It seems there should be an experiment to analyse traffic/conversion for bandcamp/amazon/going direct.

Does anyone know if this experiment has already been done?

he says that from his experience, if people don't know the channel. i.e. it's not amazon, they won't buy, even if the payment is still processed via paypal, so that's why he says it has to be on amazon
